PENTAGRAM, the most original of all doom bands from the USA, here with their 2nd studio full lenght album ''Day Of Reckoning'' from 1987. The roots of the band around Bobby Liebling from Washington, D.C. can be traced back to the beginning of the 70s, so it should be clear what to expect on ''Day Of Reckoning'', 35 minutes of old school doom without big gimmicks, but with enough loosening up midtempo parts. PENTAGRAM have had a lasting influence on the doom underground, and even if some of their disciples like CATHEDRAL have refined and added to the original style in the meantime, it is even more important to know the old PENTAGRAM recordings. Also, because of the genre-typical reorientation of many newer acts towards the Seventies sound, PENTAGRAM still seem highly topical with the 7 songs. Given the low level of distribution of the first release, this reissue should be more than justified in order to make a true genre classic more accessible to the wider public. The 2012 LP re-issue comes in black 180g vinyl with printed innersleeve.
