Description

The People’s Victory Orchestra And Chorus – Weltschmerzen: Great, great LP!

Interesting facts:

Not much is known about this group except that they were hippies from a commune in Long Island, New York. It's not even known what year this album was released, but it's thought to be from the early seventies. This group doesn't fit into any one genre, but it's mostly a folk sound mixed in with some psych and blues.

Circus Magazine: “The People’s Victory Orchestra and Chorus is a collection of 150 people who … would like to remain nameless due to their distrust and distaste for the more commercial and egotistical aspects of the recording business. ”Weltschmerzen” is a complicated musical collage derived naturally from a musical perspective unique in 1967. Among others who shared a similar perspective in their approach to music at the time were Randy Newman, Van Dyke Parks, The Beach Boys in Smiley Smile ….”
