Essential mix fodder, which is hit or miss as an actual record listening session.  Or to put it another way, this collection is best when taken in small glee-filled chomps, then a beginning to end headphone experience.

All of it has an overt novelty quality and awash with kitsch, which are both meant as sincere compliments.  And, when the blips, blurps, zonks, pings, and thaps are aligned just right, its magical.

For examples when those fizzle-zorps are just right, listen to: Cosmic Ballad, Spooks in Space, Computer in Love and Visa to the Stars.

In conclusion, for anyone looking for zany new music, looking to make a spage age mix or looking for a slab of retro-neo-futuristic elecronica, they'd do much worse than add this to their collection.

From a technical standpoint, this early attempt to bring electronic music to the masses is commendable. The result of (according to the liner notes) 275 hours of work and several miles of tape, these electronically modified sounds were combined with electronic sounds from oscillators, tone generators, and feedback loops, to create something resembling pop melodies. Live musicians then embellished these materials with both electronic and natural instruments. The problem is, the end product -- certainly after 30 years have removed the novelty value of electronic tones -- is cheesy enough to skirt the boundaries of kitsch, with a boxy, mechanical texture and a music-box-run-amok feel that makes it sound like a direct ancestor of Hot Butter's 1972 hit instrumental "Popcorn." There is a goofy charm to the mischievous placement of burps, gurgles, animal noises, and naive outer space-tinged themes. But with material that would be far more at home on the soundtrack of a children's TV cartoon than a work of contemporary composition.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve (we can see it through the opening side)

(c)           The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 3:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the top seam   (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
