Description
PETE BROWN and his BATTERED ORNAMENTS - A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark ORIG Harvest Recs LP / SHVL 752 Stereo (UK, 1969)
Happy to present on the first green Harvest label without the EMI box logo, only the second release on the then fledgling progressive label.
The sleeve is a gatefold front/back laminated affair made by E.J Day in Great Britain, 1969 and is in an overall solid VG+ condition. The laminate is lovely and tight with no lifting or peeling. There is 2/3 light creases to the front and one crease following a light ring impression on the back. There is NO edge wear and hardly any feathering! The spine is intact and not split but shows a 2 inch rub which has broken through without splitting and can be seen in one of the photos, the writing however is unaffected and fully legible. There is mild to moderate corner wear but NO writing, sticker tears or residues and no real yellowing on the inside gate.
Many would give this an EX, because it is still relatively strong, lies flat and has no great wear, but due to the spine rub I’m downgrading it to a VG+.
The labels are EX with no damage, writing, soiling, foxing and no unwanted stickers or residue.
The vinyl looks a very strong EX+ on Side 1. Side 2 has 3 or 4 thin hairlines and a more noticeable scuff line on the same side, but no real scratches - so overall I’ll go VG+ again, but I’ll bet this looks better than a lot of VG+es you’ve seen in the past!! THE RECORD HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO AND PLAYS JUST FINE WITH FULL UNIMPEDED AUDIO THROUGHOUT bar a few light ticks on the last two tracks, but NO distortion, crackle or loss of clarity.
From 1969 to your Harvest collection. Don’t miss!
