Soulful, Bluesy Live Set Captures Peter Frampton and Co. at Height of Creative Powers! Double LP PRESSED AT RTI
Includes Signature Version of “I Don’t Need No Doctor” and 16-Minute Cover of Muddy Waters’ “Rolling Stone”
At the turn of the 1970s, Humble Pie rivaled Led Zeppelin as the biggest blues-rock band in the world. Performance: Rockin’ the Fillmore demonstrates why. Capturing the group at the height of their powers, the live set smokes with outlandish energy, virtuosic interplay, rhythmic might, and blistering grooves. Guitarist Peter Frampton and vocalist Steve Marriott use their individual star power to complement rather than compete with one another, while the remainder of the band follows suit with similar intensity.
Soaring on the strength of Frampton’s struck-by-lightning melodies and Marriott’s soulful high-pitched deliveries, Humble Pie personifies classic 1970s hard rock throughout this set, defined by zealous reinventions of songs by Willie Dixon, Ray Charles, and Dr. John. The group appropriates the classics as its own, with twin guitars harmonizing and harmonicas blowing, the original arrangements extended and reshaped, the band members pushing each other at every turn. That Frampton departed shortly after this San Francisco concert makes this album all the more memorable.
Remarkable, too, are the two epic workouts, one a 23-minute-plus jam on Dr. John’s “I Walk on Gilded Splinters”—listen for the sound of the bottle dropping at the beginning — and the other an inventive perusal of Muddy Waters’ “Rollin’ Stone” that closes with a boogie-based rendition of “My Babe.” Frampton, Marriott, and Co. were never as good as they are here.

Peter Frampton Band Frampton Forgets The Words 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2 LP SET
All New Instrumental Album On 180g Vinyl Double LP!
Features Covers Of Radiohead, David Bowie, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz & More!
Frampton Forgets the Words, the new studio album by The Peter Frampton Band, will be released April 23 via UMe. The album features instrumental tributes to some of Frampton's favorite songs and is the follow up to his 2007 Grammy Award-winning instrumental album, Fingerprints. The first track to be revealed is their take on Radiohead's "Reckoner," alongside a video.
Frampton Forgets The Words was co-produced by Frampton and Chuck Ainlay and was recorded/mixed at Frampton's own Studio Phenix in Nashville. With his infamous 1954 Les Paul Phenix-which was lost in a plane crash in 1980 and recovered more than 30 years later- Frampton brings virtuosic guitar playing to songs by David Bowie, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz and more.
Frampton notes, "This album is a collection of ten of my favorite pieces of music. My guitar is also a voice and I have always enjoyed playing my favorite vocal lines that we all know and love. These tracks are my great band and me paying tribute to the original creators of this wonderful music. So much fun to do and I really hope you enjoy it, too."
Peter Frampton is among the most celebrated guitarists in rock history. At 18, he co-founded one of the first supergroups, Humble Pie. By 22, he was touring incessantly and making use of the talk box which would become his signature guitar effect. He's collaborated with such legendary artists as George Harrison, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ringo Starr, among many others, and has toured with the likes of Stevie Nicks, Greg Allman, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, and the Steve Miller Band. In 2014 he was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.
His 2019 album All Blues (UMe), was #1 for fifteen weeks on Billboard's Blues Chart, and his autobiography Do You Feel Like I Do?: A Memoir, released last October via Hachette Books, debuted on The New York Times Bestsellers list. His 1976 album, Frampton Comes Alive! remains one of the top-selling live records of all time and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.

- PETER FRAMPTON Thank You Mr. Churchill LIMITED EDITION DOUBLE LP SET
Thank You Mr. Churchill takes Peter Frampton back to the beginning. Literally. "This album is very autobiographical. It starts with my birth, in which I thank Mr. Churchill for bringing my father back from the Second World War," says Frampton of his new set. "I woke up one morning and I wondered what would have happened if Winston Churchill hadn't been at the helm and the British and the Allies had not won. Would my dad have not come back? Would I be here? Probably not." Thank You Mr. Churchill is Frampton's first collection since his innovative Grammy-winning instrumental album, Fingerprints. "Since Fingerprints, it's been a very creative period for me," he says. "I wrote over 50 songs between Fingerprints and choosing what will be the 11 on the record. Awards aren't supposed to enhance one's creative juices, but they don't hurt. With the Grammy I feel validated as the musician that I always felt I've been." Throughout Thank You Mr. Churchill, Frampton's guitar playing is sharp and expressive. Over the course of his 40-plus year career, including his co-formation of super group Humble Pie, Frampton has realized that success isn't measured in how many albums you sell or how many concert tickets people buy (although in his case, the answer is in the millions), but by an internal barometer.
