Up for sale is a stunning, collector-grade original 1978 US first pressing of Peter Gabriel’s highly acclaimed second self-titled studio album, colloquially known as "Scratch." This phenomenal album was produced by Robert Fripp of King Crimson fame and features his signature "Frippertronics" style.
This specific copy comes from a single-owner collection and has been exceptionally preserved since its original purchase in 1978. It features the rare, well-documented Side 1 runout error with the struck-through matrix series. It was mastered by the legendary George Piros at Atlantic Studios (@tGP) and pressed at the Specialty Records Corporation (SP) plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania.

Condition Details:
Vinyl: NEAR MINT (NM). This record has only been played two times. The vinyl retains its brilliant, high-gloss original factory sheen. Visually it is pristine, and it plays beautifully with clear, dynamic sound.
Jacket: NEAR MINT (NM). The original Hipgnosis-designed cover is bright, sharp, and structurally excellent. The spine text is perfectly clear, the corners are crisp with no major shelf wear, and there are absolutely no seam splits, writing, or ring-wear blemishes.
Inner Sleeve: Generic/Plain paper inner sleeve. This copy was originally purchased with a standard plain sleeve rather than the custom lyric insert, a known factory variation due to late-70s pressing plant shortages.
It remains clean and crisp, though it does exhibit the standard, clean seam splits on the left and right edges caused naturally over time by the record shifting inside the jacket.
Shipping & Handling: To ensure the jacket arrives in its current pristine state, the vinyl record will be safely removed from the outer jacket during transit to prevent any further seam splits. It will be packed securely in a dedicated cardboard record mailer with cardboard filler pads.
