Label Conditions: Both little short of immaculate: ultra clean, fresh and highly attractive. With just a couple of tiny spindle traces on side two and none at all on one, this record is of reference quality. Played just once prior to my mandatory sound check and another from the superb collection recently purchased.

Weight of this Record: 168 grams. A massive weight even by RSLP-era Reprise standards, this is the way the discerning collector wants them.

Country of Manufacture: England.

Rarity: Very scarce as an original, this was reissued in 1972 with the new number of K 44106. This is the far rarer original first RSLP issue, released in 1970, and would have only sold in small numbers and was not available for too long before the repress. Not only that, this is a superb example and one of the heaviest pressed Reprise tan albums I have ever held. It includes a very impressive shiny cover too.

Brief Info: After leaving Fleetwood Mac in May 1970, Peter Green released his first ‘solo’ album and a somewhat surprising issue it was too. With just the six tracks, this has moments of brilliance and the overall sound is that of a band jamming. Not an album just for the blues enthusiast, this, as you would expect, has fantastic and at times loud guitar – it will appeal to fans of rock as well. Rarely seen as an original and this is a superb copy that plays nigh-on perfectly. A massively pressed original that was played just once by the one-and-only original owner. A very important album within this genre and it gives a true insight of this man’s guitar brilliance. Always a joy to offer the cleanest and heaviest pressed originals of this album especially when included with a beautiful cover. This again sets the bar very high and most fans of this blues legend will treasure it.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(++): a single fully laminated format, the definitive original with the RSLP 9006 number. It was printed and made in England by MacNeill.

Lamination – Front & Back: A truly superb example that retains ultra freshness, blackness, shine and clarity with any friction or rubs or dulling very light and little. With such massively pressed record inside for over 40 years, a little mild rim impression is near impossible to avoid, but any traces on this fantastic example are very light indeed. I have rarely seen this cover devoid of laminate lifting and the back has one moderate blister on the usual spine edge. That apart, any other traces are few and tiny – this makes that impressive front look even more wonderful as it so seldom escapes. Laminate lifting is not really ‘wear’ as such, simply, some covers are more prone to it and this very much a case in point. Over time, the laminate tightens and pulls away from the card’s surface, alas, little can be done about it. The front has barely any creases, one small half moon just to the right of the leopard’s right canine, any others are ultra fine edge types with just a few more on the back, most all again on the sides. For sheer attractiveness and that just made look, this will take a huge amount of beating and is near connoisseur standard.

Top Edge: Unworn and dead straight.

Bottom Edge: Practically the same again.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, ultra sharp with practically no wear at all and guaranteed untrimmed. Both sides have a fairly wide strip where the laminate ends short on the opening edge. Both side areas are immaculate with no rubbing, chipping or touch-ins on the black ink. Record entered on this edge.

Spine and Text: Solid, straight with any compression very light, the ends are neatly pinched with fine definition and no bending. All text is pristine perfect, sharp and bold, totally unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate - even this retains a lovely rich shine and clarity.

Corners: All corners are practically as made with any tip rubs tiny and faint. Superb near mint shape is retained by all.

Cover Summary: A very strong and highly attractive all-round example of this elusive original RSLP early 70’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to match or find much better. Minus the one lift of any note on the back, this would Mint(-) in anyone’s book. This highly attractive item should please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(+): a plain white, heavy-duty polylined inner in super condition. A few, mainly light creases with two immaculate window circles and an ultra clear, crinkle-free lining that is still firmly attached. All edges unsplit with no repairs and this is UK patented with ‘Foreign Patents Pending’ text.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: MINT(-) / EXCELLENT(++): Side one looks fantastic and side two has just a couple of ultra fine hairlines with no sound of course. An impressive vintage record that is super clean, shiny, intense black and massively pressed on thick, top quality vinyl. An almost freakish weight for standard press album and I love these super-heavyweights. The mass of this will be immediately apparent to any winning bidder. Visually a super, now played twice original record that should please most-all collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This remarkable record plays up too its high visual grading with practically nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. This has a fantastic production with real hi-fi audio. Any surface sounds are light and brief – just noted at the very beginning, soon to fade and disappear. No pops or clicks were noted and overall, this is a mainlyh very clean pressing overall. Few original copies will match or outperform this one I feel certain. Nothing of any real note spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this rare Peter Green record. This copy will prove very difficult to find significantly better especially with the elusive RSLP numbers – this is a must for blues and early Fleetwood Mac fans and is strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
