Includes 4 tracks from the ultra rare original 1971 Phantasia LP, 2 tracks (“Ride Me” & “I Must Have You” – aka “I – I”) are from the original 1974 Trizo 50 LP. “Hollyhocks” appeared on the later 2004 World In Sound Trizo 50 release, and “I’m Alive” only appears on this release. This album mainly highlights David Johnson, featured on the first 5 tracks, with one track sung by Bob Walkenhorst, and two sung by me.

NOTE: re the Phantasia material: These mixes are faithfully dubbed from the vinyl. “A Stumbling Dragon” is actually the long instrumental piece that is the 2nd half of “Genena”.

NOTE: re the Trizo 50 material: “I Must Have You” is a re-mix of “I-I”, with some extra sounds. Extra sounds are also added to “Ride Me” – these and “Hollyhocks” are the mixes that later appeared on the 2004 WIS Trizo 50 release. “Hollyhocks” was more of a Phantasia song that simply insisted on being recorded during our Trizo 50 days. It's loud because there was no combining of tracks - just the initial four, vocal, guitar, guitar, piano.

The original four-track tape that included “I’m Alive” was destroyed in a car fire, and this version is from a very bass-y 8-track tape dub, with a LOT of phase noise layered on top of it. (Think “Wavelength” by Van Morrison). It’s too bad, because this track is rather special. John and I wrote and recorded this after the other guys had quit the band, but John felt we needed a real bass player on the track. I had taken over all of the guitar and bass chores when we were reduced to a duo, but I was just barely capable. To my surprise, John called up Jim Clapper, who’d played lead guitar in the J-Walkers, and then bass guitar in Phantasia. Jim came in and played bass on the basic track, live with John on drums and me on guitar. I think Jim’s playing propelled this track and he and John clicked together like it hadn’t been two years since they’d played together. So, this is the ONLY Trizo 50 track that Jim appears on. An un-“Wavelengthed” version can be found on YouTube, with some nice photos of Jim, then and now.
