PHENOMENAL DRUMMING FROZEN IN TIME....

~ CANNED HEAT ~ embraced the dawn of the West Coast counterculture in 1966 and hitched a ride on the rock 'n' roller coaster for over four decades. Although only drummer Fito de la Parra remains from the groups 1968 "FRIED HOCKEY BOOGIE" era classic lineup ....the band is one of the few acts to have played both Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock. The group had made a name for itself in the rock press in the '60s when they frequented many legendary venues such the Fillmore West in San Francisco, and the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles.

This historic recording is essential to fans of the band and era....
Many moons ago "unearthed" one of collectible ... circa 1970 era underground album ... happens to be quite a mystery as to why this outstanding performance by CANNED HEAT in their prime was never released by any major label. First of all, and unusual for '70 underground recordings, the direct hook-up to the soundboard contains PHENOMENAL sound. Second and last, ~ CANNED HEAT ~ are on fire ... versions and improvisations FAR surpass the often too careful and over produced studio manipulated end results... here, you get the straight band, one take: fire in their bones and they can play...Canned Heat were jammin' constantly from '66 to '69 when this LP was recorded and were a visual & aural spectacle.
ALL versions are unreleased and decidedly (right...) far superior ... hang no award on the non existent studio producer... a nice touch - warts and all.... ..
LONG JAMS:

A:

INTRO ... TUNE UP REFER BLUES
B:               SO SAD (side long...)

CONDITION: The cover: rated: M- TOP COPY ... so hard to find in ANY condition ... here's a nugget! The white backing cardboard cover is M- as is the custom designed paste-on cover slick. No better to be found - this one. There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ...

The vinyl: Rated: near M- ... primitive press to be sure, thick & heavy...like something manufactured outside of the major leagues, BUT, in all it's rawness, shines brightly and performs with ultimate glory... high end soundboard quality, a gem of the era if the 'fan-man' don't say ...both ATLASTA labels are clean
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
