Ladies and Gentleman - welcome to a truly interdenominational Christmas! (this is the Christmas ALBUM even Osama could love – well, almost). We always found it rather entertaining that one of the most heartfelt and beautiful - not to mention original - Christmas albums ever recorded came from a Jewish guy in his early 20’s. Not only did this unorthodox attempt at mixing Christmas with Brooklyn aesthetics circa 1963 survived, it aged with such infinite grace that it became a perennial Christmas classic. This is the original PHILLES records issue of this album; the insanely rare STILL SEALED MONO pressing on Philles label. The wall of sound - a production method patented by Phil Spector (which involved - inter alia - torturing the artists for maximum effect: just ask Tina Turner who was tormented so badly during the recording of "River Deep, Mountain High" that her tight bra fell apart) - does not get any more vivid or palpable than here. This is a proverbial fortress of sound, consisting of multitude of overlapping layers of voices, sound effects, cascades of rhythm and ornamentation, AND IT COMES IN ITS ORIGINAL, GLORIOUS , BACK-TO-MONO version. A joyful, luscious, retrogressive, a*al-retentive, guilty-pleasure joy of Christmas past. Phil Spector is king!!! A KILLER ALBUM BY THE, ER…UM… ONE …(AHEM) KILLER ARTIST…Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!!  You are more likely to bump into very alive Lana Clarkson on Rodeo Drive this Christmas....

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           True Stereo ORIGINAL pressings of this album are NOT known to exist (reissues DO exist in stereo,  though).

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER):

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP   (A TINY PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear/minor tarnish (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2    (VISIBLE ON FRONT SIDE ONLY)  (THIS BEING A LAMINATED SURFACE, ANY TARNISH CAN BE EASILY WIPED OFF).

-        Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (BARELY VISIBLE)

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
