Matty Matheson is a man of many talents. Not only has the rambunctious celebrity chef become a bestselling cookbook author, restaurateur and an executive producer of the television show The Bear, he's got a top-tier hardcore punk band firing from all cylinders. Pig Pen has Matheson on vocals, Alexisonfire's Wade MacNeil on guitar, Daniel Romano on guitar, Ian Romano on drums, and Tommy Major on bass. Matheson says of the formation. "We wrote 10 songs in one day and the next day we recorded them." In a world of protracted recording sessions and convoluted ProTools rabbit holes, it's refreshing to hear Matheson be so quick off the mark, reflecting Black Sabbath's no nonsense early days. Matheson's roar on 'Mental Mentality' is just one of many highlights on this frenetic masterpiece.
