PILES (PUBLIC IMAGE LTD ENFORMATION SHEET) - ISSUE #1 (UK, CHESHIRE ~ LATE 1979) - ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE PUNK FANZINE Original and very rare first issue of obscure Public Image Ltd / PiL fanzine (according to editor it lasted 5 issues but I have never seen any other) - the fanzine is oversized as many others from the late '70s and consists of 6 low quality xeroxed pages ("sorry about the quality of photostating but machine is f****d! - hopefully next edition will be much better") and it's an early work of author Clinton Heylin (with address in Cheshire) who has written many music books including the 1996 'Anarchy in the Year Zero - The Sex Pistols The Clash and the class of 76' plus many books on Bob Dylan. In an interview of his at the time of the 'Anarchy in the Year Zero' book he says: "..After the Sex Pistols I started a Public Image fanzine very early in 1978 when their first record came out. It was called PILES, Public Image Limited Information Services. I think we did 5 issues.." I guess this is the first issue as it says 'No.1' on the cover but it is certainly from late '79 as on page 5 there is the band's discography which states both 'Metal Box' LP and 'Death Disco' 7" which were released from mid to late 1979. Also according to his intro on page 2 it should be 'Enformation Sheet' and not 'Information Services'.. Anyway, small details - the fanzine is really interesting and not easy to find.
