Description

SThis is the Original 1968 Mega Rare Pink Floyd UK First Press Stereo Album titled ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’ on Blue / Black Columbia SCX 6258. The matrix numbers on this 1st Press are as follows Side1 YAX 3633 – 1 & Side2 YAX 3634 - 1 The tracks are as follows Side1 1) Let There Be More Light 2) Remember A Day 3) Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 4) Corporal Clegg Side2 1) A Saucerful Of Secrets 2) See –Saw 3) Jugband Blues.

This second Pink Floyd album establishes Roger Walters as the group’s central figure another excellent album which saw the group develop there space rock style, and appearing to cope without Sid Barrett. Almost every track is outstanding in its own right. Waters wrote the spacey Let There Be More Light and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, which both evoked a sense of mystery and mysticism, and the move light – hearted Corporal Clegg. The second side is dominated by the little track, written collectively by the group. It comprises essentially three movements, characterised by discordant keyboards, sound effects and, for a large part relentlessly beating drums, which eventually give way to an organ solo and later an orchestrated climax, Wright’s contributions Remember A Day and See – Saw are more relaxed, and consequently less intense. The finale is a Barrett composition Jugband Blues. This is in similar vein to his nonsensical contributions on their first album. They also featured on the score to Antonioni’s film Zabriskie Point.

This Stereo version of this often densely arranged album is preferred by many collectors.
