ORIGINAL UK HARVEST (SHDW 403) FIRST PRESSING (January 1974) OF PINK FLOYD'S FIRST TWO ALBUMS COUPLED TOGETHER AS "A Nice Pair" - IN BEAUTIFUL, LIGHTLY PLAYED CONDITION DELIVERING CRYSTAL CLEAR, CLEAN, BRIGHT AND FRESH AUDIO THROUGHOUT WITH PRACTICALLY NOTHING TO FAULT (AND AN INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE STRONG, LOUD CUT) - BOTH RECORDS SOUND ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL
PRESSED ON TWO QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT RECORDS (much thicker than later pressings) WITH THE FIRST YELLOW/GREEN HARVEST LABELS WITH "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD" RIM TEXT (changed to "EMI RECORDS" just a few months later in mid-1974)
FIRST PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS: YAX 3419-1 / YAX 3420-1 (record one) and YAX 3633-1 / YAX 3634-2 (record two) (all stamped) - the lowest matrix set used for this pressing
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 3/MM and 2/AL (record one) and 3/PR and 1/OD (record two) (all stamped)
THE RECORDS ARE HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL SOFT-BACKED MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE "MADE AND PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN" WITH THE FRONT "WR PHANG" PICTURE (WITHDRAWN FROM LATER ISSUES AND REPLACED WITH THE "GARGLING MONK")
COMPLETE WITH THE TWO ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVES (ONE BLUE, ONE GREEN) WHICH HAVE SQUARE CUT CORNERS AND TOP OPENING THUMB NOTCH (these inners were only issued in the earliest pressings and most inners are found with rounded corners)
SUPERB SET OF THE FIRST TWO ESSENTIAL FLOYD ALBUMS IN WONDERFUL CONDITION - GREAT STUFF - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED INDEED

LABELS: The labels are clean, fresh and unmarked with just a few light spindle traces - EXCELLENT++
VINYL Visual: Both records retain their original deep, like new, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - fine hairlines only - these has no audio consequence - otherwise, beautiful surfaces - NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: Sensational audio delivery with a crystal clear, deep, rich and warm sound (and a superb, strong loud cut). On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always a real pleasure to return to these two albums - two of the most important British albums ever released) there are no audio major issues of note - no scratches, no sticks/jumps, no loud clicks or pops (just the occasional very minor light 'tick" on record two) and no real surface noise to speak of - this pressing is beautifully clean - the run-ins and track divisions are practically silent and the quieter sections play beautifully. A fantastic and incredibly impressive pair of records which play to just about their highest possible standard with great clarity, no groove-wear, no distortion and are critically graded a strong NEAR MINT (record one) / EXCELLENT++ (record two) for audio
SLEEVE: The original matt 'Dr Phang' gatefold cover is also in NEAR MINT condition - clean and fresh with no real wear to speak of on either the edges or spine - where all text is clear and bold - a very fine example which has been kept inside a plastic protective sleeve all it's life
INNER SLEEVES: The two matt inner sleeves are both in practically untouched condition - clean, fresh and unmarked. The Blue inner as no splits and is NEAR MINT, the Green inner has the smallest beginnings of a split to the bottom edge (it's not yet fully cut through) but is otherwise as clean and fresh as the Blue one - EXCELLENT+ (Both records are now housed in new inner sleeves with NAGAOKA anti-static liners)
