Description

A Saucerful Of Secrets 1/3 (early stereo pressing)
This early stereo release has the black Columbia label with two EMI logos on the labels.  This is a non-flipback cover and Gilmour is printed as Gilmore on both the labels and the cover.  The third song on S2 is numbered incorrectly as "4" when it should be "3".

Visual grading
This vinyl is absolutely immaculate aside from one obvious thick type mark on S1 that runs across the first two tracks.  It does not however cause any clicks.  Apart from one other small hairline on S1 it is superbly clean.  S2 looks even better and retains a stunning glossy sheen and has only a couple of small hairlines.  With almost no spindle wear this vinyl has hardly been played and apart from the one obvious mark on S1 is in remarkable condition visually.
Play grading
'Let There Be More Light' begins with stunning audio and indeed the whole track plays in impeccable style.  Rarely have I heard such clarity and depth.  There is hardly any interference, only a touch of very light static here and there which is a little more obvious towards the end.  There are no clicks, pops or crackle anyway, a classic start to a classic album.  'Remember a Day' also plays very clearly with only a little intermittent distortion and a touch of static in a handful of places.  Again there is no loud crackle and certainly no clicks or pops.  For such a quiet track 'Set The Controls...' plays very well although there is some distortion and light static to be heard which is more obvious at the beginning and the end.  'Corporal Clegg', as is always the case with the early pressings, does play with some distortion.  This is due to the grooves being pressed closer together so as to 'fit' the track onto the side.  However, it still plays well and is a more than acceptable listen.
'Saucerful...' on Side Two begins superbly with almost no background noise.  With only a couple of very faint dull clicks about 45 seconds in this a wonderful intro.  A little distortion leading up to the drum section which then plays with stunning clarity.  Again the sound quality just prior to the organ section is exceptional.  There are a few light dust ticks once the organ begins but there is no other background noise.  Thereafter this section plays with superb audio and you would not know this vinyl was from the early 70s.  A fabulous listen.  'See-Saw' and 'Jugband Blues' both have incredibly clear audio and again belie their age.  They play with great clarity and barely any interference, just a minor amount of distortion again on the former.  'Jugband Blues' actually plays stunning sound quality and I don't think I have heard better and the very quiet ending also plays in supreme style.
Cover
The G & L cover is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb shape with almost no rubbing and even the corners are very clean.  The opening edge is also in great condition with hardly any handling wear.  The laminated front cover is beautifully clean apart from a little marking towards the bottom.  The back cover also remains in great shape with only light marking near the spine and a couple of small creases.  There are no flipbacks on this pressing and as per the early pressings it has 'Gilmore' on the tracklisting.
Labels
They are in superb condition with almost no spindle wear.   Around the label is printed "EMI Records, Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited. Made in GT Britain".
Inner sleeve
The original plain white die-cut inner sleeve is in excellent condition with only one small split on the bottom edge.  It has the patent number and Made In Great Britain printed on one side.
