Description
This very early press of A Saucerful Of Secrets is in wonderful condition for 46 years old. This is the original UK Columbia Stereo press on the silver/black label. This is from the same owner that I purchased "Piper" from (that I am also selling) and again has been superbly looked after and kept in a plastic cover.
Matrix numbers YAX 3633 - 1 / YAX 3634 - 3 / Stampers 2 LD & 1 GG / Catalogue number SCX 6258
I cannot stress just how good this vinyl is and you have to look very closely under a strong light to see the faintest of wispy hairlines. They are minimal and I'm sure only caused by the record removal. On first inspection you would think it had just been purchased from a record store! It is without doubt the best vinyl I have seen of this 1/3 pressing and would honestly say that it is almost Near Mint which must be so rare for a record of this age.
The laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover is also in excellent condition. The spine is still strong and clearly legible and the corners have no edge wear and there is no rubbing on the edges either. It retains a very clean opening edge. The only wear is a crease to the laminate on the bottom right hand corner and one near the opening edge but only visible under a certain light. There is also a very small hand written price sticker It definitely does not detract from the excellent quality of this cover. The reverse is also very clean with no wear, it only has the laminate running down the right hand side.
The labels are in amazing condition also. There are no spindle marks which again suggests little or no play. As stated this press is on the silver/black label with two boxes top and bottom with the EMI white logo.
This is a true archive copy, by far the best I have seen of this very early stereo press, and one that would be practically impossible to improve upon. It is that good!

ALL RECORDS ARE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED IN STRONG MAILERS WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS. THE RECORDS ARE ALSO REMOVED FROM THEIR SLEEVES TO AVOID CUTTING THROUGH THE COVER AND PUT INTO A SEPARATE SLEEVE, AND THEN PLACED INSIDE A PVC SLEEVE.
