Description
The three Pink Floyd LPs that I am currently auctioning are from my own personal collection. They have only been played a few times on top quality equipment, and play essentially as new. You could not hope to find better copies.
Here for auction is a superb MINT- example of the classic album by PINK FLOYD titled ‘ANIMALS’, Catalogue Number SHVL 815. This is an original 1977 UK stereo 1st pressing on the HARVEST RECORD LABEL with the earliest A-2U/B-2U Matrix Numbers, and the 1st issue ‘WIDE-SPINE’ GATEFOLD SLEEVE. Complete with the 1st issue lyric inner sleeve with rounded corners.
The thick card gatefold sleeve, printed and made in England by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., is in EX+/MINT- condition, with only minimal signs of wear. The front and back covers and opening gatefold spread are unmarked. The wide spine is square and solid with perfect text. You can see from the photos that this is an exceptional sleeve which will be almost impossible to improve upon.
The top quality Harvest record retains its ‘just pressed’ appearance and sits flat and true on the turntable. Both sides are visually in MINT- condition. The beautiful HARVEST picture labels are unmarked with just 2 faint spindle traces near the centres.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
This is a particularly detailed and vibrant recording with outstanding sound quality. All frequencies are crystal clear and there is no discernable deterioration in the sound quality. Both sides play essentially as new with barely any unwanted noise at all. This is particularly important for this album due to the number of quiet sensitive passages which can so easily be spoiled by excessive surface sound. If you are looking for that elusive perfect playing copy – look no further. You simply will not find a better playing 1st press copy – I guarantee it.
Complete with the correct 1st issue thick card lyric inner sleeve which is also in MINT- condition.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
PACKAGING & POSTAGE
Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
