This genuine first pressing plays with wonderful audio and with very little 'background'.  No clicks or pops.

There are a number of faint hairlines but you can see how well this vinyl has been looked after by the quality of the audio.  There are no scratches and it still retains a deep healthy glossy look with no marking.  There is some spindle wear on both sides but not a great deal it has to be said.

Play grading  

'Pigs On The Wing (Part One)' plays with incredibly clear audio for such a quiet track with barely any static.  The intro on 'Dogs' is so clean and is almost 'as new', the clarity is stunning.  It then proceeds to play with great definition and there are only a small number of very light dust ticks on the first quiet section a few minutes in.  The remainder played with breathtaking clarity, there is no muddiness to the sound whatsoever.  A touch of background static in a couple of sections but it is very quiet and does not interfere with what is a fabulous high quality listen.  No loud clicks or pops at all and the louder end section, so often affected by distortion, plays very clearly here with excellent depth and power.

'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' has some static on the intro but the music still plays very clearly.  Once the vocal begins the audio is extremely good with only the odd mega light dust tick, the clarity is stunning.  The first quiet section does have a small number of light dust ticks but there is certainly no loud crackle and no clicks or pops.  Thereafter the audio is stunning and impresses with no 'background' whatsoever and the guitar solo bringing the track to a close plays 'as new' with no distortion and only the lightest of dust ticks on the fade out.  The very quiet 'Sheep' intro plays very clearly but with some light crackle here and there.  The first vocal section plays with stunning power and separation, it sounds fantastic!  Indeed from that point on the music is stunning with hardly any 'background'.  The louder end section is very impressive and again there is very little of the distortion that is so often prevalent.  A superb ending.  'Pigs on The Wing P2' ends this album with very impressive sound and no interference which is a rarity on this super quiet end track.

The Gatefold

The G & L gatefold is in excellent condition overall but with a little shelf wear.  There is some rubbing on the edges and a little corner wear also.  The wide spine only has a small number of 'rubs' and is still 100% legible.  There is a little white mark on the front cover next to the spine but apart from that the front is very clean with just a few small creases around the edges.  The opening edge has no handling wear at all.  The inside of the gatefold is very clean with only a little 'spotting' around the edges which is very common on the predominantly black background.  The back cover is very clean overall with light ringwear and few little specks and a small white mark near the spine.  Not perfect but still cleaner than many you see today.

Lyric sleeve

This has the rounded corners as per the first/early pressings and is in excellent shape except for one small split on the bottom edge.  Minor rubbing on the edges and a couple of small creases but very clean overall.

The labels

These are in perfect condition with no marking/writing and not a great deal of spindle wear.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers
