Description

This  first press of Animals is in excellent condition for 37 years old and it is certainly one of the best I have seen.  You have to look under a strong bright light to detect the very faint hairlines but I would say they have been caused by record removal from the sleeve.  I honestly think many would grade the vinyl as Near Mint as they are so difficult to detect!  This is not play tested but I am sure it plays extremely well for its age and really is in excellent condition especially for a first press, uncommon to find one so good.
Released on the Harvest label in 1977 (SHVL 815)
The matrix numbers are A2/B2
The original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition and has retained its shape extremely well.  There is no major wear at all just slight rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine and a little white 'spotting' towards the top of the cover.  There is barely any wear to the edges at all which is very rare for a first press and it retains a clean opening edge and a strong wide spine.  The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with just slight creasing on the spine and slight 'spotting' again.  Most definitely one of best gatefolds I have seen for an A2/B2 pressing.
The lyric inner is in excellent condition with no markings at all, just 3cm of wear on one edge.  Apart from that is Near Mint.  It has the curved corners denoting a first press.
Overall this is a quality first press and would grace any collection.

Side One I would grade as Ex++
Side Two is Ex+
The gatefold cover is Ex+
The lyric inner is Ex
 The labels are Near Mint

I ONLY SEND ITEMS TO ITALY, RUSSIA AND SOUTH AMERICA "SIGNED FOR" AS TOO MANY ITEMS GO MISSING.  PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU AGREE WITH THIS.

I ALWAYS COMBINE POSTAGE COSTS IF MORE THAN ONE ITEM IS WON / DOUBLE LPs COUNT AS TWO RECORDS.

ALL RECORDS ARE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED IN STRONG MAILERS WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS.  THE RECORDS ARE ALSO REMOVED FROM THEIR SLEEVES TO AVOID CUTTING THROUGH THE COVER AND PUT INTO A SEPARATE SLEEVE, AND THEN PLACED INSIDE A PVC SLEEVE.
