This A2/B2 first pressing of Animals is without doubt one of the best I have heard. The vinyl is in stunning condition apart from two marks/hairlines at the beginning of Side Two but having listened to the LP I can confirm they have no affect on the audio at all. Indeed the quality of the sounds suggests that is has been rarely played and it retains that lovely glossy sheen of new vinyl.

13) SHVL 815 A-2U PA 7 / SHVL 815 B-2U GT 3 (both stamped)
I have play tested the LP in its entirety and the audio plays with a wonderful clarity and with absolute minimal static. 'Pigs on the Wing (Part One)' starts proceedings with sublime sound and this continues throughout Side One. There is perhaps slightly more static on Side Two but it still plays with superb clarity. You can only hear it when you sit right next to the speakers! I sometimes think I under-grade when there is a hint of static because with a vinyl of this age you expect to hear it but as I say it is only absolutely minimal on this LP. 'Pigs on the Wing (Part Two)' ends the LP in stunning fashion and plays as Mint, no crackle at all!
Overall a fantastic listen and it would be difficult to find a better A2/B2 press and of course it goes without saying that there are no skips or jumps on both sides.
The original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover is in excellent with only mild shelf wear. There is a little rubbing on the top and bottom edge but is still one of the cleanest I have seen. Again slight rubbing at the top and bottom of the spine and very minor spotting on the inside. It has a small sticker type mark on the reverse - here I am listing the faults but it really is one of the best I have seen for a first press! The gatefold has retained its shape extremely well and retains a very clean and strong wide spine. To confirm this is definitely a first press cover as it has no bar code and and also has the front edge of the gatefold sealed with a foldunder.
The cardboard lyric inner (with rounded corners as per first pressings) is one of the best I have seen. There is just absolute minor wear to one side but it has not worn though I hasten to add. Other than that it is in near perfect condition. It has the 9-inch notch on the edge that opens and in the lower right corner is the catalogue number "SHVL 815(I)"
