Description

This A2/B2 first press of A nimals has to be the best I have heard.  Not only that but it is one of the earliest first presses ever issued.  Pinkfloydarchives.com, the 'bible' of all things Pink Floyd, has it as number 4 on their matrix listing.
4) SHVL 815 A-2U GM 1 / SHVL 815 B-2U AA 3 (both stamped) 
 The audio quality is quite simply astounding.  I have play tested the LP in its entirety and the audio is stunning.  I heard only two hints of crackle during the entire playback of Side One.  The sound is so rich and deep and plays with such clarity it is amazing to think this vinyl is nearly 40 years old.  It retains that glossy sheen of new vinyl and not surprisingly I can only detect the faintest of hairlines under bright sunlight.  Obviously only caused by sleeve removal but such is the quality I would say it has been rarely played.  
Side Two begins with no lead in static (as per Side One).  Again it plays as near to perfect as you will find.  This first press is a real collectors item.  It plays with practically zero background noise and the only crackle is so minimal and unobtrusive it is barely worth mentioning!  Of course it goes without saying that there are no skips or jumps.  I will happily grade this vinyl as Mint-
This vinyl is almost 'as new' and for a first press is very rare to find.  I very rarely grade vinyls as Mint but this is not far from it.  Again I cannot stress just how good the sound quality is of this first press.  It would be a great addition for any die-hard fan.  
The original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover is in wonderful condition and has retained its shape superbly well.  There is just very slight scuffing on the top right of the spine as can be seen.  Other than that it is in Near Mint condition with only the slightest hint of wear on the edges.  It really is so clean it looks almost as new bar the rubbing top right.  It is without doubt the best first press cover I have seen.  It has a very clean opening edge and retains a strong wide spine as when first purchased.  The inside of the gatefold is also in great condition.  To confirm this is definitely a first press cover as it has no bar code and and also has the front edge of the gatefold sealed with a foldunder.
The cardboard lyric inner (with rounded corners as per first pressings) is in excellent condition with only a few minor creases around the edges.  It has the 9-inch notch on the edge that opens and in the lower right corner is the catalog number "SHVL 815(I)"
Overall this is a stunning first press that would grace any collection.
