Description
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!
The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.
Here for auction is an exceptional example of the album by PINK FLOYD titled “ANIMALS”, Catalogue Number SHVL 815. This is an ORIGINAL 1977 UK STEREO PRESSING on the HARVEST RECORD LABEL, with 1st ISSUE WIDE-SPINE GATEFOLD SLEEVE and complete with the 1st ISSUE THICK CARD LYRIC INNER SLEEVE with rounded corners.
The “wide-spine” gatefold sleeve, printed in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd, is in EXCELLENT CONDITION (strictly graded). It is still nice and rigid with barely any loss of condition. The front and back covers are unmarked with only a few tiny creases mostly near the edges. The opening gatefold spread is also unmarked. The top and bottom edges are in excellent shape with just the lightest of rubbing in places. The opening edges are undamaged with barely any signs of use. The corners are lovely and square with only the lightest of wear (just a small crease to the top spine corner). The wide spine is square and solid with all text clearly legible. Overall, a beautiful 1st issue “wide-spine” sleeve.
The record retains a deep mirror-like shine and sits flat and true on the turntable. Visually both sides are in EXCELLENT+ CONDITION with just very light sleeve removal type surface marks evident under bright light. These marks are purely superficial and do not cause any audio problems. The picture labels, with “MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN” text, are unmarked with only 1 or 2 very light spindle traces each side. There is still some plastic flashing present in the spindle hole. I am confident that the record has not been played many times.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
This is a particularly loud-cut and vibrant recording. All frequencies play crystal clear and there is no discernable deterioration in the sound quality. Playback is near perfect. There are no pops or loud clicks, and barely any unwanted noise. A significantly better playing copy will be very difficult to find!!
Complete with the original thick card lyric inner sleeve, with rounded corners, which is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.
ORIGINAL WIDE-SPINE 1st ISSUES WITH A SLEEVE OF THIS QUALITY AND NEAR PERFECT PLAYBACK ARE BECOMING VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND - DON’T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY!!!
