Atom Heart Mother A-1G / B-1G (no EMI logo - very first pressing)
On offer here is one of the very first pressings of Atom Heart Mother in excellent condition. Being a first press it of course has no EMI logo on the labels.

Visual grading
Visually this first pressing is absolutely stunning. Under a strong bright light I can only detect a couple of extremely faint hairlines on each side. It has a wonderful glossy sheen and is definitely one of the best I have seen. There are no scratches or marks and looks absolutely stunning.
Play grading
Side One does play with some intermittent background noise but for the most part is quiet. I would describe it as a hiss, a little more than ordinary static. It also has 3/4 clicks but there are many sections where the music plays very clearly with very little interference and remains an excellent listen.
'If' on Side Two plays very well with just light static in the background and a couple of light clicks. 'Summer '68' plays superbly well with excellent clarity and barely any interference and the same can be said for 'Fat Old Sun'. For a vinyl that is now approaching 50 years old you will expect some interference especially for such an early pressing. The quieter sections (and there are many of them!) play with great depth and very little interference on this side. 'Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast' has great audio with only the quietest of static here and there although there is some crackle at the end. The drip at the end will of course continue endlessly on a manual turntable until the needle is lifted off the record with these first pressings.
Gatefold cover
The G & L gatefold has to be the best I have seen, it is very near perfect. The edges are superbly clean as is the spine. There is very light rubbing on the bottom right hand edges but that is the worst that can be said. There are no marks anywhere and really is in fantastic condition, it's amazing to think it is 46 years old. It looks almost like new and has been superbly well looked after.
Being a first press it has on the inside "7010 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd Patent no 943,895 SHVL 781" in the lower left hand corner.
Inner sleeve
Also included is the original die-cut polylined sleeve advertising various releases including 'The Madcap Laughs' and 'Ummagumma'. It is in great condition with no rips tears, just minor creasing.
Labels
The yellow/green labels, with no EMI logo, are in excellent condition with no marks or writing. They do have a little spindle wear.
Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system.
