Atom Heart Mother A-1G / B-1G (no EMI logo - very early first pressing)
This is one of the earliest known first pressings of this classic LP. On the pinkfloydarchives.com site they have one at no 7 with matrix numbers GG 12 & RT 1 so you can see the one I am offering is very close to that and is therefore a very early first pressing indeed. It of course does not have the EMI logo on the labels.

Visual grading
Visually this first pressing is in wonderful shape and there are only a minimal number of faint hairlines on each side and certainly no scratches. I would say the hairlines have only been caused by sleeve removal. It has a wonderful glossy sheen and is definitely one of the best I have seen.
Play grading
The title track begins with very little static and for 46 years old the side plays with extremely good audio. It plays with only minimal static and a handful of soft clicks but for such an early pressing it would be difficult to improve upon the clarity and richness of this record. There are two pops during the choral section but aside from that there is very little interference. There is a little distortion towards the end but with vinyl of this age you expect some interference and in all honesty this easily grades as Ex and is an excellent listen. For such an epic track with so many quiet sections for it to play as well as this is a rare find today.
'If' on Side Two plays very well with just the lightest of static but there are a few clicks in the middle section. Other than that the audio is extremely clear. 'Summer '68' has excellent clarity with minimal interference, slight static at the beginning. 'Fat Old Sun' again plays exceptionally well for a vinyl approaching 50 years old with very little background noise, a great listen. For such a quiet track 'Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast' plays with stunning audio and is without doubt one of the best I have heard and for such an early first pressing this is incredibly rare. The drip at the end will of course continue endlessly on a manual turntable until the needle is lifted off the record with these first pressings.
Gatefold cover
This G & L gatefold is one of the best I have seen and is exceptionally clean with minimal shelf wear. The edges are in superb condition and there is only very light rubbing on the bottom of the spine and to the right hand corners. There is almost no handling wear to the opening edge, no marks of any consequence anywhere and really is in fantastic condition and has obviously been superbly well looked after down the years.
Being a first press it has on the inside "7010 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd Patent no 943,895 SHVL 781" in the lower left hand corner.
Inner sleeve
Included is a white polylined sleeve which I don't believe is the original.
Labels
The yellow/green labels, with no EMI logo, are in excellent condition with no marks or writing and only a little spindle wear.
Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system.
