Another from my personal collection,, purchased from new over 30 years ago, initially only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection. This is  how I have always stored my records. An awesome original quadraphonic (four channel) pressing rare to find, this is the earliest second issue quadraphonic UK pressing featuring 1st issue/1st press Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover (with the SQ logo on the front and inside of the gatefold)   UK pressing genuine original and complete especially in this top condition! superb near mint crystal clear audio on my systems!  Normally these vinyls are found in a terrible state, or more to the point the vinyl sometimes look near perfect only to find that the play reveals horrible static ticks, clicks and crackle which is so common on this album haveing so many slow and quiet places! This vinyl has only ever had no more than a handful of plays ever! I Purchased this album from new.I have stored this album all of this time in a case with the sleeve and vinyl seperated from the cover to prevent ringware damage! (this is how I have always stored my records) Very very collectable and sought after like this!!I can not emphise enough the audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out! Without \ (no) distortion, no loud clicks or pops at all! I can not emphasize enough at how difficult it is to find a copy of this especially in this condition!

Stereo-Quadraphonic

Most stereo recordings are produced from master tracks containing up to sixteen seperate tracks which are then reduced (remixed) to two channels necessary for stereo reproduction! With the advantage of two additional sound sources that are placed behind the listener, quadraphonic remixing of four tracks adds depth and breadth. It is possible to move sounds between any of the four speakers placing the listener in the best seat in the concert hall or theater! Even if this vinyl is played on a standard stereo (two channel) system the full range of sounds will be heard and nothing will be lost!

Atom Heart Mother is a 1970 progressive rock album by Pink Floyd, engineered by Alan Parsons and Peter Bown. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England!!

The original album cover shows a very ordinary cow standing in a very ordinary pasture, with no text nor any other clue as to what might be on the record. (Some later editions have the title and artist name added to the cover.) This concept was the group's reaction to the psychedelic "space rock" imagery associated with Pink Floyd at the time of the album's release; the band wanted to explore all sorts of music without being limited to a particular image or style of performance. They thus requested that their new album have "something plain" on the cover, which ended up being the image of the cow. Storm Thorgerson, inspired by Andy Warhol's famous "cow-wallpaper", has said that he simply drove out into a rural area near Potters Bar and photographed the first cow he saw. The cow's owner identified her name as "Lulubelle III". More cows appear on the back cover (again, with no text or titles), and on the inside gatefold.!!

The title track was to have been called "The Amazing Pudding", though Ron Geesin's original score referred to it as "Epic". Its name was changed after Ron Geesin, who co-wrote the piece and arranged the orchestration on the recording, pointed to a copy of The Evening Standard (dated Thursday 16 July 1970), and suggested to Roger Waters that he would find a title in there. The headline was: "ATOM HEART MOTHER NAMED".

The piece is a progression from Pink Floyd's earlier instrumental pieces such as "A Saucerful of Secrets". The "Atom Heart Mother" suite takes up all of side one, and is split into six parts, featuring a full brass section and choir which take most of the lead melody lines, while Pink Floyd mainly provide the backing tracks; a reverse of the 1960s pop music practice of using orchestration as the background, and putting the rock band in front. However, there is one section where a bluesy electric guitar solo by David Gilmour takes the lead!!.

Side two opens with three five-minute songs: one by each of the band's three resident songwriters, and closes with a suite with sound effects primarily conceived by Nick Mason, but credited to the whole group (and based mostly on musical ideas by Gilmour). Therefore, this album's concept is similar to their previous Ummagumma album, in that it features the full band in the first half, and focuses on individual members in the second half.

Roger Waters contributes a folk ballad called "If" which he would play frequently at live shows in support of his Radio KAOS album, more than a decade later. This is followed by Rick Wright's brass-heavy "Summer '68", a critique of the "rock 'n' roll" lifestyle that would soon become characteristic of Pink Floyd. Next is David Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun", for which a 15 minute extended arrangement spent two years as a key part of the band's live set, and is a staple of Gilmour's various solo tours!!.

The final track, "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast", is divided into three segments, each with its own descriptive title, joined by dialogue and sound effects of then-roadie Alan Stiles preparing, discussing, and eating breakfast!!.

The original LP ends with the sound of a dripping tap which continues into the inner groove, and thus plays on indefinitely!!!

The vinyl

On initial inspection it is hard to see a blemish at all,  this looks as new in my opinion and gleems still retaining its sheen from new, This has only ever been played a handful of times by me only (haveing purchased this from new and stored this album in a case for more than 30 years)! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is the original.

Even in strong light this looks awesome, Please note most of the vinyls storage life it has been in a seperate poly sleeve to minimise any sleeve removal marks\scuffs. Any marks that could possibly ever be seen under a strong light would only be sleeve removal. I must emphisise that I can't see any at all!   Any who know this album would appreciate that there are many quiet slow parts and this audio is absolutely exceptional. Please note, Although this is a four channel mix this can be played on a standard stereo, 2 channel system without any problems at all! cristal clear and vibrant through out with (no) clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps! More importanmtly (no) distortion or any signs that this has been overplayed or infact played at all! Cristal clear and very vibrant audio  I would grade this audio almost as good as it gets on vinyl in my opinion!

Please note! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for almost 33 years (since I originally purchased it) A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks!,,A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!
