Description
This is the very rare original UK first press of Atom Heart Mother released in 1970 on Harvest Records and of course is the only pressing without the EMI logo on the label.
Matrix numbers A-1G / B-1G Stampers 1 AP & 2 R 1.1
The vinyl does have various fine hairlines and 3/4 scratches but none that are deep. I would still class this as in very good condition for its age and I have certainly seen a lot worse! Again it is one of those LPs that you have to see under a bright light to detect anything of any consequence. And of course this is the rare first pressing where the drip at the end Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast continues into the runoff groove so you would have to remove the needle from any manual turntable.
The Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold does have some wear. The worst areas affected are the top and bottom of the spine where there is some rubbing and a brown stain mark you can see by the opening edge in one of the pics. Other than that the edges are in a very clean condition. There is just slight ringwear on the reverse and a few minor marks. It still has a strong spine with 'Atom Heart Mother - Pink Floyd' clearly legible. The inside of the gatefold is in excellent condition and shows no wear at all.
The yellow/green labels Harvest labels (no EMI logo) are in superb condition.
Overall a very good first press and although it is not perfect it would add to any collection.
This copy also includes a cut out from a newspaper advertising the LP - would look great framed!
Side One I would grade as VG++
Side Two is Ex-
The Garrod & Lofthouse cover is VG++
The labels are Near Mint
The newspaper ad is Ex+ !
Any questions please feel free to ask.
Please pay within 4 days of auction end.
I ONLY SEND ITEMS TO ITALY, RUSSIA AND SOUTH AMERICA "SIGNED FOR" AS TOO MANY ITEMS GO MISSING. PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU AGREE WITH THIS.
I ALWAYS COMBINE POSTAGE COSTS IF MORE THAN ONE ITEM IS WON / DOUBLE LPs COUNT AS TWO RECORDS.
ALL RECORDS ARE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED IN STRONG MAILERS WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS. THE RECORDS ARE ALSO REMOVED FROM THEIR SLEEVES TO AVOID CUTTING THROUGH THE COVER AND PUT INTO A SEPARATE SLEEVE, AND THEN PLACED INSIDE A PVC SLEEVE.
I WILL LEAVE FEEDBACK AS SOON AS I RECEIVE FEEDBACK - SO I KNOW THE ITEM WAS RECEIVED SAFELY AND THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH IT :-)
In the coming weeks and months I will be putting plenty of Queen, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Marillion items on the site so please keep a look out! Many thanks. Please look at my other items on now!
