ATOM HEART MOTHER FIRST PRESS - AS NEAR TO MINT AS POSSIBLE!
This is the very rare original UK first press of Atom Heart Mother released in 1970 on Harvest Records and of course is the only pressing without the EMI logo on the label. In Near Mint condition - stunning!

This is without doubt the best first press I have ever seen. It is quite simply in stunning condition and has obviously been hardly played. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this LP!! The vinyl only has one discernible scratch on Side Two but it is extremely fine. There is one other small fingerprint on Side Two and a few of the very faintest hairlines that the human eye could possibly see! The faint hairlines have no doubt been caused by the record being removed from the sleeve and I am sure the sound quality will be nigh on perfect. Under a strong light the vinyl looks stunning and retains a wonderful glossy sheen. I grade honestly and take it very seriously as my feedback testifies and if anything I am over critical. Many sellers would look at this vinyl and grade it as Mint as it is that difficult to see the very few faint hairlines. It may even be the case that this classic LP has not been played at all, it is that good. If any discerning fan wants as near to Mint as possible for this 44 year old first press then this is the one! In fact the only downside is that the original put a small 'silver star' on each label. Why?!
And of course this is the rare first pressing where the drip at the end Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast continues into the runoff groove so you would have to remove the needle from any manual turntable.
The Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold is also in amazing condition, almost as new again. You find so many first presses have had their covers swapped but not this one. In the lower left corner, it says "7010 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd Patent no 943,895 SHVL 781." If I'm honest I'm finding it extremely difficult to describe any flaw at all! There is the slightest of rubbing on the bottom of the spine and on the bottom of the opening edge but that is it. It is without doubt again the best first press gatefold I have seen. In actual fact I don't think I've seen any better later gatefolds! The edges are as as clean as the day it was first bought and the spine is still wide and strong with 'Atom Heart Mother - Pink Floyd SHVL 781' clearly legible. The inside of the gatefold is also as near to Mint as you find.
The yellow/green labels Harvest labels (no EMI logo) and with The Pink Floyd above the green Harvest label are in Near Mint condition apart from the 'silver stars' as previously stated. No spindle wear at all.
The inner sleeve is white and has the patent Nos 1,125,555 & 1,072,844 on the bottom. It is advertising other Harvest releases including 'The Madcap Laughs' and 'Ummagumma' amongst others.
This is a stunning first press and I'm sure will attract some serious bidding. Please be rest assured that this is most definitely the best first press that I have ever seen probably of any Pink Floyd record. This would be a great addition for the true fan to add to their collection.

The labels are Ex++
The polylined inner is Ex+
