This very early first pressing plays with superb audio and only minimal background. S2 is often the 'problematic' side and yet it plays extremely well with only some light static ticks in a couple of places which do not last long. This side plays so much better than the vast majority I have heard! S1 plays with stunning quality overall with only one light click on the 'Dogs' intro, there is hardly any static on this side. The vinyl itself is in lovely condition also.
The cover is absolutely stunning and is probably the most pristine example I have ever encountered! It has retained its original shape and structure perfectly and is so 'clean' when you consider it is not laminated. It has none of the spotting or fading that you so often see. The lyric inner (with rounded corners) is also in fantastic condition with barely any wear and has no edge splits, how rare is that! This album must have been kept a pvc sleeve all its life. Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a fine glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. All I can see under a bright light are a small number of ultra faint hairlines but there is nothing that stands out. There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves are on great condition also. The labels are near perfect with barely any spindle wear, so faint you can hardly spot any!
Play Grading
The acoustic intro on 'Pigs On The Wing 1' plays so clearly with only the bare minimum of very light background static for a couple of seconds, it is so quiet! The vocal section is the same and overall the clarity of sound is stunning. No ticks, clicks or pops and overall Near Mint is a fair assessment of the audio.
The only intrusion on the slow build up intro on 'Dogs' is one click near the start followed by a light tick, caused by a teeny tiny needle drop I think. The opening two verses play with outstanding clarity, there is no background at all. Gilmour's first solo is 'as new' and the third verse is just as impressive. The instrumental section then plays with stunning precision and again there is literally no background, not even a dust tick. The acoustic / dog barking section is quiet and yet once again there is no intrusion on the audio aside from a couple of barely audible statics. Gilmour's next solo and vocal both play with supreme quality - tremendous depth and definition throughout this section. The repeated Stone vocal / instrumental section could hardly play any better, the clarity of sound is incredible and I only 'picked up' a couple of minor background statics. This section often has some interference I find but not this one! The next acoustic section is faultless and the final two verses / instrumental could not play any better either. Seriously the audio is out of this world! The closing Who was... vocal is regularly affected by inner groove distortion but it is kept to an minimum and played with very clean audio. It is easily one of the 'cleanest' finales I have heard. The fade out plays to perfection also. I will grade the intro as Ex but the rest has to grade as Mint- I am confident in saying.

The intro on 'Pigs (Three Different Ones' plays so clearly with no interference, just a handful of barely audible statics, and Waters' opening vocal section is just as impressive if not better! The instrumental bridge is flawless and the next vocal is again so clean with only one minor static sound. It continues in much the same way - S2 on the A2 / B2 first pressings is often plagued by static etc and I personally don't think it should have passed 'quality control' but in saying that... so far so good! The next instrumental is long and yet the clarity and depth of the audio is stunning. A couple of light statics only and as the volume decreases at the end of this section there is a little static / handful of light static ticks. The final vocal section has only the bare minimum of light static at the start and thereafter plays without fault. Gilmour's end solo is strong and clear - the vast majority I will grade as Near Mint- and there is just one brief section grading as Ex-
The 'Sheep' intro has only minimal intermittent light static (a rarity!) and having played it twice now I can confirm the clarity is very impressive, one static sound and nothing intrusive. As Mason enters the scene closely followed by the first vocal section the audio is so strong and powerful and there is no distortion on the top end. The second vocal is equal to that and the next quiet instrumental, again so often impacted by irritating static, is very clean with only a small number of quiet statics at the beginning. The Lord is my shepherd section has some light static ticks at the start but they soon disappear and then plays with great clarity. The final vocal section is perfect and the instrumental end section is powerful with only a minimal amount of inner groove distortion on the top end as is customary. It's always there you cannot escape it - I know because I have sold numerous first pressings down the years! I think this grades exactly the same as the previous track!
The 'segue' intro 'Pigs On The Wing (Part Two)' is near perfect and this brief acoustic number then plays with sublime clarity - there is no interference, only a couple of mega light statics. No clicks or pops and it provides a Mint- conclusion to this classic album.
The Gatefold & Lyric Inner
As stated the cover may well be the most stunning example I have ever found! The only 'real' wear is one small crease on the back cover in the bottom left corner and even that is minimal! It has been preserved beautifully - the edges have no rubbing and the spine is as wide and strong as it was on the first day it was produced. The corners have next to no wear and the opening edge is 100% pristine. The front cover is unbelievably clean with no marking and rarely no spotting or fading. Just noticed one tiny crease by the bottom right corner. The back cover is just as impressive and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate. A 'high end' example and it would be difficult to find a more pristine example.
The thick card lyric inner is also in lovely condition with perhaps the biggest rarity of all, no bottom edge split! All edges are so clean, there is just a couple of minor rubs on the rounded corners and one tiny and very faint corner crease. The thumb notch area has no wear either and there is hardly any ringwear or creasing. Superb!

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
