PINK FLOYD Animals . Harvest SHVL 815. 1977. Earliest 2-U Matrix endings, wide spine and earliest card inner sleeve.
This is a nice original copy of Pink Floyd animals with generally only light signs of wear. it delivered good audio playback when tested.
Grading: -
Outer Sleeve: VG+
This iconic gatefold sleeve in the very first wide spine version displays signs of generally light wear in places. There is slight fading to the spine and some rubbing to the top and bottom edges and also on right hand edge of the front cover. On the back cover there is some light ring wear at the top of the sleeve. However, despite these points this remains a nice copy of this “difficult” sleeve. Colours are strong, there are no major creases (just one small one adjacent to the spine on the front cover) and much of the front and back covers are in nice shape with no other writing or significant damage, so it stand up as a decent first edition cove overall.
Vinyl: EX- to EX
The vinyl is in EX- to EX condition and closer to the latter overall. It displays just a light amount of hairlines when held under strong halogen light and absolutely nothing serious in terms of marks or other defects. A really nice example.
Vinyl Audio: EX- to EX
There are no nasty surprises on playback, there are a couple of slightly more audible clicks on Pigs On The Wing 1 but other than this any background noise is generally light and confined to the quieter passages. Anyone looking for a totally silent pressing shouldn’t buy this copy, but the sound reproduction, clarity and power is good and whilst this isn’t a perfect copy it plays perfectly well for the most part. Of course the real plus here is that it’s the very first UK -2U -2U pressing. Acknowledged by most audiophiles as the best pressing of this record and yes, it certainly delivers in terms of musical dynamics and power.

Inner Sleeve: EX
The original first issue black card inner sleeve is in EX condition. It has clearly had only light use and has a tiny amount of rubbing in a couple of isolated places. The seams are fully intact. A really strong example of this inner.
Overall, this is nice 1st press copy of this superb and iconic LP.

Postage and Packing:
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
