Description

BEAUTIFUL SOUNDING VERY EARLY 1ST PRESS PINK FLOYD ATOM HEART MOTHER 1970 HARVEST SHVL 781 Matrix Nos. Side 1 - 'SHVL 781 A-1G' 'GD' '1' Matrix Nos. Side 2 - 'SHVL 781 B-1G 'H' 2
This is an amazingly good copy of this classic album. The vinyl is in stunning NM- condition. As far as I can see there is only the faintest of (non-sounding) marks on the first track of side two which is only visible in strong sunlight. This brings this down from NM. The album itself plays beautifully with almost no background noise and again with the exception of some crackle in the famous endless drip groove at the end of side two grades NM. It would be pretty hard to find a better looking or sounding copy of this album as it is quite clear that this album has been looked after carefully for the last 40 years.
As well as the low mother/stamper numbers which appear to put this in or around the first 3 batches (see: http://www.pinkfloydarchives.com/DUKLPPF.htm#AHM1) of the first pressings the vinyl weighs in at 142gms and has lovely smooth round edges.
The labels, of course, have No EMI logos, include the Grammophone Co. Ltd credit and importantly also exclude the LUPUS MUSIC credit on all tracks except Fat Old Sun. The Lupus credits appeared on later copies of 1st pressings.
In order to protect the album the previous owner chose to sellotape the edges of the sleeve. The result is that whilst the album cover is generally in excellent condition with almost no ring wear and light shelf wear the dried adhesive has remained and yellowed over the years. This is a shame as without this imperfection this would probably be close to a final upgrade copy. Please see pics below for more details.
Like the original labels the cover carries all the correct markings for a 1st pressing including the "7010 TPS" Garrod & Lofthouse coding on the inside cover.
The inner sleeve is an EMI generic white patent sleeve not the album catalogue variant.
Happy bidding!
