This  item  came  from  our  personal  collection

Offered for sale is an original 1973 UK pressing of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, on the original Harvest label (SHVL 804) with the blue triangle label and both posters and stickers.

This record is in exceptional condition.

Dark Side of the Moon was a landmark album for the British Band that finally made them famous worldwide after nearly a decade of relative obscurity.  Although the album never hit number one on the American album charts, it did remain in the Billboard top 200 for nearly fifteen years, a record that still stands.  Dark Side of the Moon is one of the biggest selling albums of all time, with some estimates suggesting that it has sold as many as 45 million copies since its initial release in 1973.  The record is a classic rock monument.

The original pressings of the album in the UK differed from later editions in several ways, most notably in the label art.  The first pressings had a solid blue triangle on the label; this made it quite difficult to read the song titles.  Later pressings were altered to make the triangle black in the middle.  Original pressings included two posters and two peelable paper stickers; both are present here.

THE RECORD

The disk has been well cared for, though it does show a few spindle marks on the label, suggesting it's been played a number of times.  Aside from that, it's quite clean, with just a few scuffs caused by removing it from the inner sleeve.  It's a very niceVG++, or exellent, if you prefer.  At a glance, it looks virtually mint.  There is a bit of surface noise; this copy is not dead-quiet.  That said, it's an extraordinarily clean record.

Matrix numbers:  SHVL 804-A2 / SHVL 804-B2

Stampers GDR / GCA

Mothers: 5/1

THE COVER

The cover is in nice condition; VG+.  It does have bits of wear at the corners and on the bottom as shown in the photos.

The original black inner sleeve is present, though it does have a 2” split on one side and a few wringles.  We've included a rice paper sleeve for the record itself, though the black sleeve will be included.  The two posters and stickers are present and are pristine.

Aside from these issues, the cover has:

No split seams
No ring wear
No cut-out (drill) holes.
No cut-out corners
No saw-marks or indents
No dirt/dust rubbing stains
No wrinkles or creases
No yellowing from aging
No writing
No stamps
No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams
No peel-off marks
No stains
No mold or mildew spots
No water damage
No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.
No warping
No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
No glue traces or wax residue.
No RIAA stamps or stickers.

This is a very nice copy of an iconic rock album, and one that the Absolute Sound claims to be the best-sounding pressing of this record ever.  If you're looking for an affordable, yet clean copy of this UK first pressing without having to spend $1000 or more, this is the one for you.  It's a terrific copy of an album that's quite difficult to find in good condition today.
