Description
Part of a large Pink Floyd collection I have been asked to sell. This is raising funds for a friends divorce settlement (OUCH!).
For sale is the iconic "Dark side of the moon". This is the quadrophonic version, but plays perfectly well on a stereo set up too, just the music is presented slightly differently which I will explain in the play-grading further down. This has the matrices A2 / B1. Mothers and stampers are 1P and 1T, so exceptionally early ones.
Fully play-graded as shown below.
What I do say is that if for any reason you are not entirely satisfied with my description, I will accept a return, give a full refund and pay the return postage in full. I cannot make a better offer than that.
Cover is in very good shape, virtually no colour loss from shelf-wear at all. There is a light crease to one corner on the rear side. Apart from that it is a lovely clean example and grades excellent.
Inner sleeve is the original poly lined example. Has no damage at all. No slits, rips, tears or writing. It has text to both sides explaining the quadrophonic process. The inner sleeve is in superb condition and grades as excellent.
The vinyl is also a lovely clean example. No worrying marks worth noting. Retains a deep glossy sheen and has little or no evidence it has been played much, just 2 feint spindle marks to one side. As a visual grading this grades excellent plus.
Posters and stickers are all present and in great shape. The posters just have light age discolouration to the rear, minor wrinkling and of course their fold lines. Never hung or exhibited, so no pin holes, or blue tack residue etc etc. Both stickers are in excellent undamaged condition.
This is my play-grading:-
Firstly, although this is a quadrophonic recording, it is FULLY compatible with being played on a stereo set-up. The music is presented in a slightly different, but obvious way. The mix is quite different. Some guitar work that is more background in stereo copies now comes to the fore. Some of the spoken asides during some tracks stand out more. In fact I heard an aside that I had never heard before (from someone who has probably played DSOTM well over 1000 times). So basically, same music with a different presentation. Referring to my listening notebook, these are the comments I made. Side one starts with the notoriously difficult heartbeat opening. This copy has some very very light background noise for the first couple of seconds, which very quickly dies down to near silence. The segue between tracks 3 and 4 ("Time") is completely silent. The whole of side one plays superbly. No issues other than that start to track one. Side two has 3 seconds of light background at the very start. Again, this clears very quickly and my only comments at the end were the fact that the whole album plays with near silence exactly where and when you want it. Very dynamic recording, this is one belter of a copy and aurally grades excellent plus.
All albums are sent in a new anti-static inner sleeve and new heavy duty polythene outer sleeve. All in the price. Postage in the UK is by Royal Mail 1st class "signed for". I am actually charging less than cost price for that service at £5 instead of £5.55.
I am happy to post worldwide. I can give an exact price once I have packed and weighed the collection and know its destination. In the meantime I have put down a blanket cost for overseas postage which I will amend once I know the destination country. As a rough guide, postage within the EU costs between £14 and £16. Outside of this, a cost of £20 to £25 should be expected.
Please feel free to ask any questions, request more photos or whatever. Nothing is too much trouble.
NO SALES TO RUSSIA, BELARUS OR UKRAINE. BIDS WILL BE CANCELLED.
Please check out my other listings. I will be adding several nice Floyd stuff over this weekend and every fortnight after that.
My packing is renowned for its robust standards. I have NEVER had an album damaged in transit as my feedback clearly testifies.
Good luck if you decide to bid.
AS THIS COLLECTION IS QUITE LARGE, IT MAY BE WORTH ASKING IF THERE IS ANYTHING SPECIFIC YOU ARE SEEKING. JUST ASK, I MAY JUST HAVE IT HERE!!
Keep your beaks out.
