Description

PINK FLOYD "Dark Side Of The Moon" 1973 UK 1st PRESSING 2 POSTERS & 2 STICKERS, BEAUTIFUL RICH AUDIO,GREAT COPY
PINK FLOYD
The Dark Side Of The Moon

ORIGINAL UK HARVEST (SHVL 804) SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE FIRST PRESSING (March 1973) OF PINK FLOYD'S LEGENDARY AND ICONIC, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" LP *COMPLETE* WITH BOTH POSTERS, BOTH STICKERS, AND THE ORIGINAL BLACK INNER SLEEVE
THIS IS A GREAT COPY WHICH SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL (ON MY SYSTEM - AT A VERY LOUD VOLUME!) WITH A DEEP, RICH, DETAILED AND BEAUTIFULLY WARM SOUND (please see detailed audio assessment below) - SUPERB COPY

PRESSED ON QUALITY MID/HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE CUSTOM SOLID BLUE PRISM LABELS WITH "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." TOP RIM TEXT
MARTIX: SHVL 804 A-2 / SHVL 804 B-2
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 3/OA and 1/HG
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd.”, DATE CODED '7303' (1973, March) WHICH IS VERY DARK BLUE IN COLOUR AND HAS THE FACTORY SEALED LEFT SIDE EDGE (although there is no fold-under flap - not all first press sleeves had this feature - please check the excellent and comprehensive Pink Floyd Archives website for confirmation)
AND THE SET COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL BLACK POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVE WITH PATENT NUMBERS AND "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" TEXT PRINTED IN GREY/SILVER AND THE TWO POSTERS AND TWO STICKERS

LABELS: The custom prism Harvest labels are clean, bright and unmarked with moderate spindle traces (played but not over-played and also extremely well cared for)
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and apart from some light sleeve removal hairlines, are practically unmarked - great copy - very carefully handled
VINYL Audio: Sensational audio delivery in every respect with a crystal clear, deep, rich and beautifully warm sound. Pink Floyd's soundscapes cover an amazing dynamic range from the loudest crescendos to the almost silent ambient details which makes it difficult to find a first pressing which will play without excessive clicks/pops and/or surface noise but this copy sounds great. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always a real pleasure to return to this one) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps and barely any clicks or pops (really hardly any at all) - just a few of the quiet beginning of "Great Gig In the Sky" and again, on the beginning of "Us And Them" but I really do mean just a few (and these are really very, very minor, are not loud (only background) and I did not find them at all intrusive) and apart from some surface noise on the heartbeat intro to Side One (which always seems to be present and soon disappears when the music proper begins) this pressing is beautifully clean - certainly one of the cleanest I have heard. The audio reproduction is absolutely gorgeous - astonishingly detailed, very deep, very rich and beautifully warm and the LP plays throughout to a very high standard with no groove-wear and no distortion. Critically graded a very, very strong EXCELLENT for audio - but in all honesty I think it would be difficult to find one much better and it's certainly one of the finest I have heard in a long, long while - sounds sensational
SLEEVE: The thick card matt gatefold cover is also in great shape. It's clean and unmarked but it does have some storage rubbing to the bottom front and bottom back, there is however, no prominent ring wear and the inner surfaces are almost like new. The top and bottom edges also display some rubbing (all of this wear made all the more obvious by the dark colour of the sleeve). There are no creases or any structural damage to the cover and the spine is straight and true (with of course no text). Overall, a very respectable first issue gatefold which I would very critically grade as Nr EXCELLENT
POSTERS: Both posters are in unused, unmounted NEAR MINT condition
STICKERS: Both stickers are in unused, un-pealed condition with just some light creasing where they have caught inside the gatefold of the cover - nothing major and they are still clean and fresh - EXCELLENT
INNER SLEEVE: The original black, poly-lined inner is again, Nr EXCELLENT - it's clean and unmarked with no splits to any of the edges but there is a small tear on the top edge (please see photos) where it has caught when being inserted into the sleeve otherwise, its in great shape
