Description

Super rare Grail for Pink Floyd and record collectors, the solid blue triangle press of the masterpiece 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. This copy comes in the original gatefold sleeve which is more dark blue than black in colour, plus 2 posters and 2 stickers making it a complete copy. The Vinyl is absolutely beautiful and I would grade as VG+ / EX, posters and stickers are all in fantastic condition. The gatefold sleeve has aged ware which i would only grade as G+, there are no rips, splits etc. it's more the outer rims the inside of the gatefold is fab. I would rather grade it lower so anyone bidding is happy. I'll take as many pictures of this as possible to make sure it's an honest representation of this super rarity. Side 1 Stampers are also 1 1 which i'm assuming is super early!!

Good luck bidding.

_______________

This is the original form of the release, it has solid light blue prism LP picture labels with silver lettering, later forms have an empty prism. It has a gatefold sleeve, and there are three known variations of the original blue-tinged sleeve - see below. Originally delivered with 2 posters and 2 stickers.

There are 2 systems for track numbering on the release. The cover lists the titles A1 to B5 (used in this submission). The labels however number the tracks from (a) to (i) so, for example, "Breathe" is listed as "(a)(II)" on the label but "2" on the cover (see images).

The following is a guide to identifying all of the elements that make up the first pressing:

1. The label has a solid light blue prism. Subsequent pressings have a blue glowing inner edge prism with the centre black.
2. 'The Gramophone Co.' text starts at 10 o'clock on label.
3. A-2/B-2 matrix stamps appear in the runout area.
4. Thick heavyweight vinyl believed by some to be the 'finest' and most true encapsulation of this historical recording as the first pressing was pressed direct from the original masterplate.
5. There is a distinct bluish tint/tinge in the black ink of the cover.
6. Inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lined die cut black semi matt paper with white printed text stating 2 patent numbers bottom left [1125555/1072844] and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' bottom right. These are complete with this item but the black paper have came apart but i've still added them as it's nice to have them :)
7. Posters and stickers were printed on paper stock that has a rough texture (later pressings used paper that was gloss laminated).
8. The Stickers have printed backs with diagonal lines across them, and the words 'Crack-Back'.

Question from buyer: Hi, If I know all stampers have a letter and number not only number.
Stamper Codes: The stamper codes used by Columbia/EMI Records is based on "Gramophone Ltd." and are as follows:

G=1
R=2
A=3
M=4
O=5
P=6
H=7
L=8
T=9
D=0

Example: A record with a "G" stamper letter indicates that the record was made from the first stamper. Later pressings may have stamper numbers in combination, such as "AL" which means 38.
There is mistake I think

Answer: As far as i was concerned this is correct, but this is obviously a rare pressing as side one has no letters on the run out just the two 1's as stampers... I'm assuming this could be a very rare early press?
 i'm not sure but it's turning out to be rarer than i had imagined and i thought i'd share this question that the buyer has asked me incase you are thinking the same thing.
