Description

PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE COPY OF THIS ALBUM.
This is the second of 6 copies I have been asked to sell. All owned by the same guy. A total Floyd freak. The one I sold 1 week ago was as near to new quality as I have ever come across. The new owner thinks so too! This one runs it quite close.
Over the last few months I have been listing a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums. This collection has been offered for sale to pay a large legal bill for a divorce. Within the sale there has been some top vinyl, within the deeper collection is some even better items. The seller has now given me a new batch to sell, including some rare titles, early vertigo swirls and a lovely Led Zep first copy turquoise lettering.
This being the year of the 50th anniversary of the release of this iconic album. I have, since March, put together a few "packages" in celebration of this event. This is probably the 5th I have put together. Each has been well received by the winner. This package contains another highly desirable collection. Probably (definitely) never been offered together before.
It is without doubt a very rare pleasure to offer up for sale a copy of the bands most iconic title, "The dark side of the moon". This is the original and genuine 1st UK pressing, with solid blue triangle labels, midnight blue tinted cover, first edition stickers and posters printed on less glossy paper. This copy is in the most outstanding condition.  I feel that you would be hard pushed to find a nicer copy. Also included in the sale, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of this album, I have included a sealed copy of the 50th anniversary live recording from Wembley in 1974. This is pictured in the photo section. There will be a couple of other added items too, all relative to this iconic album. The official and original concert programme from the 1974 concerts at Earls Court. Rare in itself. Also, a genuine press cutting advertising the same concerts, original also from 1974. Never seen this come up for sale before. Great to have all this in one set. Other added goodies include a solid blue triangle coaster, a gel pen and anything else I can rustle up to include in there!
This is a full list of the contents of this package:-
1. The original copy of "Dark side of the moon". UK 1st press. (Ex+) 2. The sealed live album from the Wembley concert in 1974. (Mint) 3. Original programme from Earls Court gig in 1974. (VG+) 4. Original music press advert for the Earls Court shows. (Ex) 5. DVD of the making of "Dark side of the moon". (Ex) 6. A new coaster depicting the solid blue triangle logo. (Mint) 7. A new gel pen with DSOTM artwork. (Mint) 8. A sticker depicting the solid blue triangle logo. (Mint)
The seller in question had 6 (now 5) copies of "Dark side" with the solid blue triangle labels. That fact alone means that none has been played very much. I have been given the pleasure of listing each one.
This copy has been fully play-graded with full comments below.

  • midnight blue tinged  cover is in quite stunning condition, always stored in protective polythene cover. Almost no shelf-wear at all and retains almost a new look. Has a quite trivial rub area in front centre, visible in angled light. Apart from that, exceedingly good. Graded as excellent plus.
  • Vinyl is in perfect shape. No marks that are worthy of note. Graded as visually excellent plus.
  • Both posters are in great shape without damage. There is some very light discolouration to the rear from age, and some minimal creasing, but no pin holes, blue-tack etc etc. These are printed on a less glossy paper than later issues. Graded as excellent.
  • Black original inner sleeve with Made in Great Britain and patent numbers in grey text is in an excellent condition with just a tiny nick to one corner..
  • Both sticker/postcards are present and in great condition. These are the Fasprint crackback issue with brown diagonal lines to the reverse. Have very minor creasing from being caught in the cover hinge. Graded as excellent.
Please note that I do not use the grade "mint" unless an album is still sealed in original wrap and most certainly never played. Too many sellers use this grade quite heavily My top grade for a used vinyl album is excellent plus (Ex+). I am sure most sellers would stick a "near mint" on this one!

THE PLAY-GRADING OF THE ALBUM IS AS FOLLOWS:-
Weight of the album is 146 grams. Sits nicely. I have a couple of points of reference on this album. The heartbeat opening and the segue between tracks 3 and 4 ("Time"). The album starts really well into the opening heartbeat. Not 100% silent, but extremely good. The segue I mentioned earlier, between T3 and T4 plays through silently. Those are my only comments to side one, which plays almost silently throughout. This gets my highest used vinyl grade, Ex+. Side two starts really well and quietly. On T1, "Money", it is well documented that many of the A2/B2 pressings had a pressing plant issue, where a "skip" was pressed into the track and got missed by quality control. This copy has that skip. It is literally like the blink of an eye and gone. Half a second of imperfection. Please do not be put off a superb album by half a second! The whole of side two plays to the highest standard you could ever wish for. In total honesty, this whole album plays like it has been kept in perfect conditions and played very very little. No sticks, clicks, ticks, pops, distortion or anything bar that one pressing fault. The sound is detailed and engaging. guitar lines just leap out at you. Some of the saxophone work is stunning quality.  Without question this copy receives my highest grade for a used album. Excellent plus. There is simply nothing to fault in fairness. A gem for ANY collection.

All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send 1st class signed for postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me!
I accept returns if the winner is not 100% delighted with the condition of the album, according to my description. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this. My main focus is happy buyers. The money paid is secondary to that.
I will post overseas, with the exception of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for obvious reasons. I have quoted a blanket price of £25 which will be adjusted once I know where the winning overseas bid has come from. As a general guide, postage within the EU is between £14 and £16. Outside of this, expect postage to cost between £20 and £25.
If you bid on this, please expect the highest quality copy of this album. A copy that is in this outstanding condition is more than rare (rare being another word used far too easily amongst sellers). If you think you have seen and heard good copies before, I suggest you rethink. This is a stunning example in every way.
Good luck if you decide to bid.
