Description
Re-listed due to a non-paying "winner". A loser actually!
PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE COPY OF THIS ALBUM.
This is the third of the 6 copies I have been asked to sell. All owned by the same guy. A total Floyd freak. The one I sold 5 weeks ago was as near to new quality as I have ever come across. The new owner thinks so too! (feedback left was "Just the best") The copy I sold 3 weeks ago was of very similar quality and the buyer was, again, over the moon (pun intended!). (Feedback left was "Top drawer"). This copy for sale today is another high quality example. It has the seriously early mother / stamper combination. Side one is 1 / LL & side two is 3 / PD.
Over the last few months I have been listing a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums. The collection in question numbers around 100 Floyd albums. Please let me know if you are looking for anything specific in Floyd albums. I might just have it sat here!
This collection has been offered for sale to pay a large legal bill for a divorce. Within the sale there has been some top vinyl, within the deeper collection is some even better items. The seller has now given me a new batch to sell, including some rare titles, early vertigo swirls and a lovely Led Zep first copy turquoise lettering.
This being the year of the 50th anniversary of the release of this iconic album. I have, since March, put together a few "packages" in celebration of this event. This is probably the 5th I have put together. Each has been well received by the winner. This package contains another highly desirable collection. Probably I am quite sure have never been offered together before.
It is without doubt a very rare pleasure to offer up for sale a copy of the bands most iconic title, "The dark side of the moon". This is the original and genuine 1st UK pressing, with solid blue triangle labels, midnight blue tinted cover, first edition stickers and posters printed on less glossy paper than later issues. This copy is in a quite lovely condition for being over 50 years old, and I have no hesitation in stating it is amongst the very best copies I have ever heard.
Also included in the sale, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of this album, I have included some nice "extras" including a still sealed copy of the 50th anniversary live recording from Wembley in 1974, and a still sealed 50th anniversary release of the iconic "Dark side" album These are pictured in the photo section. There will be a couple of other added items too, all relative to this iconic album.
Other added goodies include a DVD of the making of the album, a triangle motif coaster, a gel pen, solid blue triangle sticker and anything else I can rustle up to include in there!
This is a full list of the contents of this package:-
1. The original copy of "Dark side of the moon". UK 1st press. (Ex) 2. The sealed live album from the Wembley concert in 1974. (Mint) 3. 50th anniversary pressing of "Dark side of the moon, sealed. (Mint) 4. DVD of the making of "Dark side of the moon". (Ex) 5. A new coaster depicting the triangle logo. (Mint) 6. A new gel pen with DSOTM artwork. (Mint) 7. A sticker depicting the solid blue triangle logo. (Mint)
The seller in question had 6 (now 4) copies of "Dark side" with the solid blue triangle labels. That fact alone means that none has been played very much. I have been given the pleasure of listing each one.
This copy has been fully play-graded with full comments below.
- midnight blue tinged cover is in a really strong condition. Almost no shelf-wear at all and retains a very clean and solid look. Has some small storage shelf-wear. Apart from that, exceedingly good. Graded as excellent.
- Vinyl is in perfect shape. No marks that are worthy of note. Graded as visually excellent plus.
- One of the labels has been sympathetically touched up as shown in the photos.
- Both posters are in great shape without damage. There is some very light discolouration to the rear from age, but no pin holes, blue-tack etc etc. These are printed on a less glossy paper than later issues. Graded as excellent.
- Black original inner sleeve with Made in Great Britain and patent numbers in grey text is in an excellent condition.
- Both sticker/postcards are present and in great condition. These are the Fasprint crackback issue with brown diagonal lines to the reverse. Graded as excellent.
THE PLAY-GRADING OF THE ALBUM IS AS FOLLOWS:-
Weight of the album is 145 grams. Sits nicely. I have a couple of points of reference on this album. The heartbeat opening and the segue between tracks 3 and 4 ("Time"). The album starts really well into the opening heartbeats with just a tiny sporadic hint of surface noise. The segue I mentioned earlier, between T3 and T4 plays through in almost silence. Those are my only comments to side one, which plays really well throughout. This copy is 98% silent in all quiet sections and comfortably grades as excellent plus, my highest used vinyl grading Side two starts really well with almost total silence before the cash register kicks in. On T1, "Money", it is well documented that many of the A2/B2 pressings had a skip pressed into it at the pressing plant in error. THIS COPY DOES NOT HAVE THAT FAULT. The rest of side 2 plays pretty much perfectly. In total honesty, this whole album plays like it has been kept really well and played very little. No sticks, clicks, ticks, pops, distortion or anything. The sound is detailed and engaging. guitar lines just leap out at you and are so easy to follow. No muddling of instruments at all. Some of the saxophone work is stunning quality. This rocks! Without question this copy receives one of my highest grades for a used album. Excellent plus. There is nothing much to fault in fairness. A gem for ANY collection.
All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send special next day delivery postage with The Royal Mail. I am charging nothing for this service, although £11.50 is what it actually costs me! So, free postage within the UK. Next day delivery.
I accept returns if the winner is not 100% delighted with the condition of the album, according to my description. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this. My main focus is happy buyers. The money paid is secondary to that.
If you have any questions, or would like more photographs of anything specific, just let me know. It is no trouble.
I will post overseas, with the exception of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for obvious reasons. I have quoted a blanket price of £25 which will be adjusted once I know where the winning overseas bid has come from. As a general guide, postage within the EU is between £14 and £16. Outside of this, expect postage to cost between £20 and £25. Postage within the UK is by Royal Mail special next day delivery. Cost is actually £11.50, but I am charging just £7.50, paying the balance myself.
If you bid on this, please expect a high quality copy of this album. A copy that is in this condition is hard to find. So many worn out copies are offered for sale. This retains a high quality sound and most certainly has not been played to death.
Good luck if you decide to bid.
