PINK FLOYD: It Would Be So Nice/Julia Dream (1968 UK Columbia DB 8401)
For auction an original UK first pressing of one of the rarest Pink Floyd early 45s - "It Would Be So Nice"
Unlike Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, the British pop public didn't go for this one and it failed to chart, making copies of the disc extremely hard to come by today. Well, here's your chance to add it to your collection. It's a terrific copy too.
The vinyl is absolutely excellent, bordering Mint-, clean and glossy, deep black grooves with but one or two very small hairlines detectable if held in a certain light. It plays Mint, no clicks, no background crackle and certainly no skips. This is as good a copy as you'll find 53 years after it was ignored by record buyers and all but disowned by Pink Floyd themselves.
The labels are rich, smart and undimmed, the classic black and silver UK Columbia print, free from any rips, stickers and writing. The KT tax code - almost imperceptibly pressed onto UK vinyl of the period - sits either side of the spindle hole on side 2, "Julia Dream'. (A purchase tax, scrapped in 1969, its appearance here signifies this is a first UK pressing.)
The disc comes complete with its original company bag that, again, is in fantastic condition. Crisp, unfaded, no writing, no damage whatsoever. Incredible for a paper sleeve over half a century old.
All in all, an absolutely amazing copy of one of the Great Lost Pink Floyd artefacts from their original psychedelic flowering. Collectors will know that this record does not come up for auction every day.
