Meddle is an album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was recorded at various studios in between the band's live touring commitments from January to August 1971!!!.

Originally released in the U.S. on 30 October 1971 by Harvest/Capitol and in the UK on November 5 by Harvest/EMI, the album was later remastered three times!

Though the tracks have a variety of moods, Meddle is generally considered more cohesive than its 1970 predecessor Atom Heart Mother, and is thought by many fans to be Pink Floyd's first truly great album recorded without Syd Barrett. It enjoyed some commercial success in the United Kingdom (reaching #3 on the charts), but lacklustre publicity on the part of Capitol Records led to weak sales in the U.S. However, Meddle was later certified Gold by the RIAA in October of 1973 and then double platinum on 11 March 1994 following the added attention garnered by the band's later successes in America!!!.

"One of These Days" opens the album with an ostinato bassline, played by both Gilmour and Waters, with Gilmour playing slide guitar. In later years, Gilmour would play the slide part with a lap steel guitar, mounted on legs, similar to a pedal steel guitar. A largely instrumental piece, the only lyric, 'One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces', is spoken by Nick Mason. It is followed by "A Pillow of Winds", which is distinguished by being one of the few quiet, acoustic love songs in the Pink Floyd catalogue. These two songs segue into each other via wind effects, anticipating the same technique that would later be used on Wish You Were Here!!!.

The song "Fearless" employs field recordings of the Liverpool F.C. Kop choir singing "You'll Never Walk Alone", their anthem, which brings the song to an end in a heavily reverberated fade-out. "San Tropez", by extreme contrast, is a jazz-inflected pop song with a shuffle tempo, composed by Waters in his increasingly-deployed style of breezy, off-the-cuff songwriting. Pink Floyd give a rare glimpse into their sense of humour with "Seamus", a pseudo-blues number featuring a dog howling along to the music. "Seamus" was remade as "Mademoiselle Nobs", featuring a different dog and no lyrics, in the film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.!!

The final song on the album is the 23-minute underwater epic "Echoes". "Echoes" also gave its name to the compilation album Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, on which a much-edited version of the title track was included. In the compilation, multiple edits throughout the entire song cut the running length of the piece down by some 7 minutes!

The vinyl

This is the original thicker and heavier type of vinyl only found on the earliest type of this pressing! (later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!

On initial inspection the the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable, and looks absolutely awesome, retains its original super glossy sheen from new! in fact i can find it really hard to see a blemish at all! Only when looked at under a strong light could possibly, any very few very light whispy surface marks possibly be seen, mostly sleeve removal marks!.. i can't see any deep needle scratches, at least nothing that would cause or indeed cause any loud clicks or pops at all:

The audio

I have carefully played this through at very loud volume on a top system four times prior to listing! The audio is awesome, cristal clear and vibrant through out! The first important thing to point out is that  there are no loud clicks or pops that I heard at all during the play of this vinyl! please note! Any interfearance that i heard was very, very  light distant static only and perhapes minor odd distant static ticks only during some of the quieter places! (some of this is caused by dirt or dust trapped in the grooves where this vinyl has been stored laying dormant for years) I must emphisise that i would class myself as highly critical  this is very near as perfect. In my opinion there was nothing that spoilt the overall audio experience one of the best that I have heard! a constant clean is recomended before each play this will  reduce this static! IT IS ALL TOO EASY TO BE CRITICAL ABOUT THIS PRESSING ON VINYL AS THERE ARE MANY QUIET PLACES This audio is truly awesome throughout! SUPER RICH BASSEY FEEL ONLY FOUND ON THESE EARLIEST PRESSINGS! I MUST EMPHISISE I HEARD (NO) LOUD CLICKS OR POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) SKIPS OT JUMPS DURING THE PLAY!! Audio graded at least excellent plus to very near mint throughout, no other format available will beat this in my opinion!

The Labels

These are the original EMI Harvest labels feature 'THE GRAMOPHONE CO...'' around the label rim (only the earliest press) later feature ''EMI records'' Spidering can be seen angled to the light this has been played but certainly not been overplayed in my opinion and carefully looked after! There is little if no spindleware the hole is perfectly round!

The Record sleeve

This is the origininal EMI advertising serpier sleeve (no) splits or tares (very light staining\fading with age) the vinyl is stored seperately from the sleeve and cover, this is how i have always stored my records!

The Cover

This is the original FULLY TEXTURED) INSIDE AND OUT (only 1st press) gatefold cover printed in ENGLAND by GARROD & LOFTHOUSE .(no) splits or tares (no) real creases to talk of, any there are you would have to scrutinise to notice. Please note!, there is some light general storageware with age, in the form of general  rubbing/scuffing ware, some at the middle of the spine text and  rubbing only at the edges . There is light crushing at one bottom edge at the rear but not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. No real ringware to talk of.  Slight flattening at the spine also with age! The inside of the (textured) gatefold is very clean and importantly textured (only 1st press)! There is no nasty names written. Graded Excellent!

1st UK Pink Floyd Meddle very rare and sought after like this!
