Description
PINK FLOYD The piper at the gates of dawn, original 1st PRESSING MONO (DOES NOT HAVE “FILE UNDER POP” ON THE BACK FLIP OVER SLEEVE) and is on the COLUMBIA Blue/silver/black label.
Released in 1967 on the COLUMBIA record label, catalogue number SX 6157 (MATRIX numbers are A-side XAX 3419-2 and B-side XAX 3420-1.
The sleeve is the original grey back ground, flip over edge type (see pictures) with Ernest J. Day & Co ltd, printed on the bottom back sleeve right hand side.
Sleeve has an EXCELLENT appearance, all the sleeve laminate is intact, and retains its original glossy feature. Sleeve is clean, solid and complete with no bad rips, no bad tears, no missing pieces, and without any sleeve creases that go right through the sleeve.
Some critical minor faults include, some surface only laminate creasing in places (mainly along the spine and outer edges), corners have rubs. Some sleeve edge wear on the record insert edge side on the back cover. Some partial light record sleeve surface ring wear evident on the front and back sleeve.
Record comes with a plain white paper plastic lined inner sleeve.
Record labels are excellent (small mark on A-side opposite Columbia and KT tax stamps excellent+++ and are not worn), all the print is clearly legible, with only some moderate spindle hole marks visible, and some light spindle edge hole wear (again see scans). Record playing surfaces still retain a nice bright original sheen. Record playing surfaces have some surface marks, mostly fine line/hairline and a few surface scuff types, surface marks are definitely not excessive and there is absolutely nothing that you can feel.
The record has been play garded to check the record’s sound quality; the album has some faint light back ground crackles in places, mostly evident on the run in grooves and on the first tracks of both the A-side and the B-side in the quiet parts, and also in some other quiet passages of the music on the album. The overall sound quality is VERY GOOD PLUS, record sound displays no bad crackles, no clicks, no pops and no jumps.
