Description

PINK FLOYD - " PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN ", Columbia/EMI Records Ltd. (SCX 6157) Stereo, 1967.

Very rare, early UK issue of the classic Pink Floyd LP.

This particular example is from the confusing world of early 70's Floyd variants. The record is the usual early 70's black and silver label version, in Stereo (as they all were). But it's an early enough copy from that time to still come in a front laminated, flip-back sleeve which were found on all the black and blue labelled first pressings and only a few of the these early 70's issues. To confuse matters further, it is a stereo sleeve which also refers to it's contents as "this mono record" on the bottom right corner of the rear sleeve - see photos for more info.

Matrix Numbers

SIDE A = YAX 3419-1
SIDE B = YAX 3420-1

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (original inner retained for originality - see photo).

CONDITION:

VINYL  =  EX- (No deep/proper scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Average to light spindle trails on the labels. A bright grading lamp reveals some faint paper scuffs and a few faint/shallow surface marks - as you would expect, these do not sound on playback. Plays very well - with the some surface noise clearly audible during the silent run-in at the beginning of the record which thankfully disappears once the music starts, but occasionally reappears more faintly during later silent/quiet sections of the record. Otherwise it plays strong, clear and without interruptions. No museum piece certainly, but a decent example to be played and enjoyed.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)

SLEEVE = V.G. (No rips or defacing. But had to be marked down for quite a few small to medium ceases in the laminate, wear to the edges and corners and the white back cover is grubby and discoloured with a tiny stain in the bottom left corner - see photos for further clarification)

NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. Before bidding, please read my description carefully, decide how much this record is worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to check out my feedback from the many other successful transactions I have made in the past.
