Hardly requiring introduction, and practically defying description, here is the incredible debut
album from the leading lights in experimental sounds - the pioneers of psychedelic rock and blues music.
Never mind 'July' or 'Sgt Pepper' or ANY of those still-worthy efforts, The PINK FLOYD ('The' was dropped subsequently, from their name) were out on a limb of their own, and this outstanding record stands as the proof. Syd Barrett lead the group imaginatively with his compositions and crafting of these recordings...back when he was fully copus mentus and a visionary of futuristic pop-art.
The full dimensional expression of his band exudes from the grooves loud and clear, and fully ....effectively!
From the opening notes, as the coda builds up from the bizarre fuzz announcements, you knew THIS was something rather special. Exciting sounds surround the elements and the planets in a swirling organ combining with vocals, and the starship was definitely into outer space!! Wow!
If this didn't get you frantically searching the Musical Express and Melody Maker magazines, or Ink and Oz, for something announcing where the band could be seen, then nothing would.
Wonderful variety of approaches from track to track, yet always pioneering and 'on the edge' in terms of unique, never before tried territory that these young men were treading.
The QUALITY of sound projection in this production is simply ASTOUNDING, as the deep grooves exude dimensions in music that makes every revolution of the disc a sheer pleasure.
Why to spend thousands on the many shallow vain efforts to make pseudo-jazz-pop-blues records that were so comparitively weak and simple, when this holds more information than Tutenkhamen's tomb deep in the pyramid. This really is THE landmark in 60's musical awakening!
The vinyl is a respectable EX and with full shine, A couple of light marks visible, no scratches into the groove - and it sounds SUPERB!
NO crackle or needle-damage, there are some spindle-marks to show that this has been previously owned and played, and it HAS been well cared for!
Lables are bright and clean, no tears or writing, undamaged and unworn. NICE!
The laminated single-sleeve 'Flipback' cover is also VG++ to EX. Ernest J. Day, "File Under POPULAR" at top right rear flipback tab.
