Description
This is a great record by The Pink Floyd entitled 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn'. It's an original mono recording on the UK Columbia label (blue/black/silver) label (catalogue no. SX 6157) and was released in 1967. The music is classic psych.
OUTER SLEEVE - The flipback sleeve which is laminated on the front is in pretty good condition with minor wear and creasing on the front and some wear and staining on the rear. The flipbacks are in good condition with some discolouration and wear but no damage. It states on the top flipback - 'File under POPULAR : POP GROUPS'. There is a 40mm tear along the bottom edge at the mouth of the sleeve which has been internally repaired with clear tape. The edges are otherwise in fine condition with some minor wear. The spine shows some minor wear but the wording along the spine is 100% readable. I have graded the sleeve as VG+.
INNER SLEEVE - This is an EMI company paper type which features black and white photos of LP covers by artists on the various EMI labels. It has been split along one side and has been internally repaired with clear tape. There is also some 'feathering' along the mouth of the inner sleeve. It is in VG condition.
RECORD - The record itself looks quite clean with some superficial marks. There is some definite surface noise over the two sides of the record which is audible during quiet passages and between tracks and there are very occasional pops and clicks on both sides. There are definitely no jumps or skips on any of the tracks. The labels are the textured black Columbia type with silver wording and the blue 'COLUMBIA' logo. Both are in fine condition with some spindle marks. Considering its age this record plays very well. There is no damage to the labels on either side. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - XAX 3419 - 2 (stampers 1 H) - side two - XAX 3420 - 1 (stampers 1 M). I have graded the record as VG+ and I believe that this is very fair.
