Description
PLEASE CHECK CONDITION BELOW BEFORE BIDDING! The record is marked but plays OK.
This is an early UK mono pressing with black and blue labels, released on Columbia, catalogue no. SX 6157. It has "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD...." printed around the label rim and "SOLD IN U.K....." label text. The matrix numbers etched into the vinyl are: Side 1: XAX 3419-2, side 2: XAX 3420-1. Housed within an early front-laminated flipback sleeve, with "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups" printed on the top flipback on the right hand side. Comes with a plain white inner sleeve. Tracks are:
- Astronomy Domine
- Lucifer Sam
- Matilda Mother
- Flaming
- Pow R. Toc H
- Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk
- Interstellar Overdrive
- The Gnome
- Chapter 24
- The Scarecrow
- Bike
CONDITION:
- Vinyl: Good. It plays with some light background crackle, only noticeable in the really quiet sections of music or in between tracks. There is the odd light 'pop' in places due to a few small scratches. There are some hideous looking marks on Side 1 which make the record surface look like a skating rink. I have no idea how these were caused but they are not scratches and do not affect the sound quality any more than already stated above. You should be able to see these marks in the second picture below. Labels are clean with no writing.
- Flipback Sleeve: Very good with 2 small tears to the bottom rear flipback, some light creasing and a very small split at the bottom edge by the opening. There is no writing.
I generally follow Record Collector's grading system but please see my "ME" page for a fuller description of my gradings. The pictures below were taken by me and are of the actual item for sale - they are not copied from other sources!
