Description
You are bidding on... ...one copy of the rare mono debut LP by Pink Floyd , titled "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" .
This album is an Acid Rock classic, with 8 of 9 tracks written or co-written by the late Syd Barrett.
This LP is on the Tower Records label, and was manufactured for Tower in the U.S. by Capitol Records in 1967.

Both mono and stereo releases of "Piper" were made in 1967, the majority of them in stereo. 1967 was the year in which an industry-wide phase-out of mono in favour of stero occurred. As most people still had mono players, more care was generally taken mixing down to mono. While collectors prefer the mono mix for this album because of its rarity and better sound, fans desire it because Syd Barrett himself participated in the mono mixdown, and it is this mix (not the stereo one) that was authorized by the band. (Nicholas Schaffner, p. 66.).

Side 1
Label: Orange background, Tower logo in black
Matrix Numbers (hand-scribed): "T1-5093-G2"
Vinyl has some scuffs. Light surface scratch on track 3 (can't feel with fingernail).
Side 2

Matrix Numbers (hand-scribed): "T2-5093-F1"
Vinyl has some scuffs. Light surface scratch runs thru parts of tracks 2 and 3 (can't feel with fingernail).
JACKET CONDITION:
Moderate ringwear on top front and top back. Edgewear on bottom corners. Moderate wear on sillouhuette design on back.
Writing (in ink) on back, near bottom. 2-inch split at bottom. Some browning on spine and bottom edge.
Jacket was shrink-wrapped after original wear occurred, and has been left in place to prevent further wear.
SLEEVE CONDITION:
Original, plain white paper, no cutouts, tanned with age.
This item is from my personal collection, and has been kept in a smoke-free home for the last 23 years.
My estimate of the grade is: VG+ for the LP disc, and VG for the cover.
My grades are based on Goldmine, and are described in the table below.

Our shipping charge includes package tracking. For your peace of mind, we will
provide the tracking number when we send our shipping confirmation email.
We pack LPs by taking the disc/sleeve out of the jacket, then placing each within a "sandwich"
of layers of bubble wrap and cardboard. This "sandwich" is further padded by paper and/or peanuts once placed in the shipping box. We earn rave reviews for our care in packing, and this is one of the reasons why.

Condition Grades SS Stil Sealed NM Near Mint, virtually unplayed. Cover nearly perfect; only minor wear. Vinyl may have some minor scuffs. Collector grade. EX Vinyl has only light surface marks (no scratches!) which do not affect the sound.
Cover also has only slight wear. Still worth collecting. VG+ Moderate surface wear. Moderate noise when played,
but no obtrusive clicks or pops. Cover may have medium overall wear or some ring wear. VG More noticeable noise when played, but no skips.
Cover is well worn, usually with considerable ring wear. VG- Vinyl heavily worn. Some crackling and pops when played.
Cover heavily worn, with minor seam splitting. G Vinyl clearly looks well played and possibly even abused. Obvious noise when played, but no skips.
Cover heavily worn, with major seam splits, tape repairs, writing, etc. F/P Fair/Poor. Obvious skips and noises when played. Cover severely worn or damaged.
Generally, record is trash unless it is *extremely* rare and no better copies exist. The Publius Enigma lives!
