Here is rare opportunity to bid for a companion set of the Pink Floyd's first two albums.
"The Piper at the Gates of Dawn"
This is the original highly collectable 1967 mono release on Columbia (blue/black label, SX6157, KT centre stamp). The album combines the Floyd's early psychadelic ground-breakers (the soaring Interstellar Overdrive and Astronomy Domine), Syd Barrett's whimsical ditties (e.g., "The Gnome" and "Bike"), as well as great rocking tunes such as "Lucifer Sam".
The vinyl is in very good condition for a 38-year-old. The few visible surface scuff marks do not, to the best of my hearing, affect the sound quality - nor do the four small (approx 2-mm) notches on the perimeter (see pic). The label has a some very light spindle marking, but no scratches or writing. The iconic front sleeve is similarly sound, with no significant damage - minor creasing has not split the laminate cover. The matt grey back cover does have some diffuse staining that may be removable, tho' again, no intrusive marking or writing.
"A Saucerful of Secrets"
This is the Floyd's second album, released in 1968. The copy for sale here is a 1987 stereo version, with identical track content to the original, released on the Columbia/Fame label.
This album contains one song by Barrett who had left the band (to be replaced by Dave Gilmour), and is mainly composed by Roger Waters. The best known tracks are probably "Set the controls for the heart of the sun" and "Let there be more light".
Both the vinyl and the sleeve can be described briefly as being in close-to-excellent condition.
