Description

Relics A-1 / B-3 (Very early pressing on the Blue Starline label)
The compilation album was released by EMI in May 1971.  It features the early singles from the Syd Barrett era plus B Sides and as then, one unreleased track, 'Biding My Time'.  The cover is fully textured.

The audio is Ex+ (Near Mint in many sections)

Visual grading
This vinyl has hardly been played as there is hardly any spindle wear on the labels and the quality of the audio confirms this.  Under bright light I can only detect a handful of faint hairlines and one tiny mark on Side Two that has no affect on the audio.  It retains a beautiful glossy sheen and has been extremely well preserved over the years.
Play grading
With barely any lead in static 'Arnold Layne' then plays with Near Mint audio, the quality is sublime.  The classic 'Interstellar Overdrive' also plays with stunning audio and almost no background noise, just the odd light dust tick.  The remaining tracks play to the same standard.  Yes it's a compilation album but it has some great tracks on it and this is without doubt one of the best Relics I have heard in a long time.
'Julia Dream' (such a great track!) has a few dust ticks but I would say still plays with great clarity throughout.  'Careful With That Axe, Eugene' again has the odd dust tick but there is no crackle and certainly no loud pops.  The quiet ending has a handful of light clicks.  For such a quiet track 'Cirrus Minor' plays exceptionally well with only a couple of clicks at the start.  'The Nile Song' has a little distortion, as it always does, yet still plays with excellent sound.  'Biding My Time' has superb sound quality and I don't think I've heard better.  There is barely any interference and is a stunning version.  'Bike' ends the side with impeccable audio.  Overall wonderful audio that has obviously only been lightly played.
Cover
  The G & L textured cover is one of the best I have seen in a long time.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb shape with no shelf wear and only the corners have a minor amount of rubbing.  There is a slight discolouration along the bottom of the front cover and a little ringwear.  The back cover is extremely clean and only has one tiny mark.  You won't find many textured covers as good as this one.  The opening edge is in excellent shape and appears only lightly handled.
Blue Starline Labels
  The S1 label is perfect and the S2 label has a few small spotting type marks.
Inner sleeve
This has the 'Care of your Record - Important Notice' inner sleeve which is in excellent shape with no splits or tears, just some light creasing.
