Description

This is a superb example of a UK mono pressing of a great prog psych LP entitled 'A Saucerful of Secrets' by The Pink Floyd. It was the band's second LP and this is a mono pressing. This LP was originally released in 1968 on the UK Columbia label (catalogue no. SX 6258). This pressing features beautiful textured labels and a flipback sleeve. The music this magnificent band produced had such a massive influence on later prog psych groups. It's a very fine record and features the genius of the sadly missed Syd Barrett.

OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve is in fine condition. It's laminated on the front and is a flipback type. There is some very minor creasing on the front cover but this is hardly noticeable. There is some very minor wear and creasing on the edges. The spine is also in great condition and the wording along the spine is 100% readable. The flipbacks are in great condition with minimal wear. On the top flipback it states - 'File under POPULAR : Pop Groups' and on the bottom flipback it states - '6807 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse. Ltd., Patents pending SX 6258/SCX 6258'. The rear sleeve is in overall fine condition with minimal wear and discolouration. It states on the rear of the sleeve - Produced by NORMAN SMITH - Sleeve Design and Photo by HIPGNOSIS. I have graded the sleeve as Ex.

INNER SLEEVE - This is the original EMI Columbia company sleeve with black and white photos on both sides of the covers  of other EMI LP's by other artists. I've graded the inner sleeve as Ex-.

RECORD - The record itself looks very clean with some very superficial minor marks which do not affect the quality of the recording. There is some surface noise which is definitely audible during quiet passages and in between tracks and the very occasional pop and click. There are definitely no jumps on any of the tracks. The black labels with silver wording are in lovely condition with some minor spindle marks. The record has been well played. There is no damage to the labels on either side. These labels feature the blue musical note and COLUMBIA logo and states under these - 'SOLD IN THE U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS'. The matrix numbers (XAX.3633 on side one and XAX.3634 on side two) are printed in silver on the left hand side of each label. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - XAX 3633 - 1 - (stampers 1      P) - side two - XAX 3634 - 1 (stampers 1    M). I have graded the record as Ex- and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and coservativel as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. All my items are 100% guaranteed and can be returned for a full refund if the buyer is not satisfied with the product.
