Description
This auction is for the extremely rare and much sought after original first press PINK FLOYD'S DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, DSOM.
It is catalogue number SHVL 804.
Made by Harvest records and released on March 24th 1973.
First thing is first. The record comes with the words
The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved.around the label. It also says Made in GT Britain at the bottom. It has the important SOLID BLUE triangle and not the blue outline of the later presses.
The Matrix numbers in the run off (deadwax) are A2/B2
It comes with the original posters, which have the white outline and non glossy feel. It also has the original stickers, with the brown lines at a 45 degree angle, and with the words fastprint permanent, crackback patented printed on the back.
It has a black inner sleeve although this is not the original.
The cover is of the gatefold type.
The record plays through with only a small amount of background noise on the run in. The labels have some spindle marks and side 1 has a small pen mark on it.
