Description
Over the next few weeks and months I will be listing a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums.
These will all be at least decent playing copies, but mostly will be of excellent quality, some even better than that. They will include some UK 1st pressings, and if not they will be extremely early pressings. All matrix/mother/stamper combinations will be listed (so long as they are readable!) so you can tell exactly what you are bidding on. All gradings are by visual examination and by play-grading, strictly to record collector guidelines.
So here we have some of Floyds most iconic work from 1979. The very first UK pressing with A2 / B3 / A3 / B3 matrices. "THE WALL".
Produced in huge numbers to cope with the advance orders and demand. Due to this, many copies were actually quite poor and prone to all kinds of surface noise. For sale here is one that slipped through the net! The audio quality is simply out of this world. I have never heard a copy that comes close to this one. It has the lovely warmth of vinyl, coupled with the quite eerie silence of a CD. Not only is the audio quality absolutely top notch, but it has the very early matrices A2 / B3 / A3 / B3. It also has the very earliest inner sleeves with the cat details on a single line and has that all important vinyl hype sticker (not actually a sticker. It is loose).
This has been fully and strictly play-graded, and all parts inspected and reported in detail. Please digest the full information below.
The cover. First issue, misaligned bricks etc etc. I think we all know the criteria. Has the vinyl hype banner. Cream coloured. Very clean, but lightly discoloured with age. Extremely solid example with very little if any wear. Grades as excellent.
Inner sleeves. In exceptional condition. Maybe the lightest of discolouration from age. Have the catalogue number on a single line as per earliest issue. Slight rub to bottom edge on side 3/4 inner. Both grade as excellent.
The vinyl surfaces visually are in pristine condition. Not a mark to be seen on any of the four sides. Visual grading is excellent plus.
The sound quality has been fully play-graded, strictly to record collector guidelines. Side one has nothing of note. Plays silently from start to finish. Side two has nothing of note. Also plays silently from start to finish. Side three has a few seconds of very light background at the start, then plays through very much as sides one and two. Side four has nothing of note. Plays silently from start to finish.
This is quite remarkable and very unusual to find. This is as good as the day it left the record store in 1979. It gets my very highest grading for a non-sealed album. That is excellent plus. This is pure heaven to listen to.
In the sale I have included some extra items which make this a highly desirable and collectable lot.
An original tour programme from the 1979 tour with arena ticket attached to the inner cover. Both grade as very good due to light creasing and handling.
An original tour programme from the 1981 tour. Also graded as very good for the same reasons as above.
A DVD of the film "The Wall" which includes a large fold-out poster. Excellent.
A DVD "Behind the wall" which is a documentary style relating to the band and the album/film concept amongst much more. Excellent.
Some artwork postcards as shown in my photos. All in superb condition.
Finally, a brand new gel pen depicting the artwork associated with the album. Mint.
I have never seen such a comprehensive collection offered for sale before. The album itself is an absolute gem even without the host of extras. Whoever wins this will be extremely happy I am certain.
All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send next day delivery postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me, sometimes less!
I accept returns if I am notified as soon as possible after you receive the album. This has to be due to it being wrongly described. Not just for a change of mind. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this.
I will post overseas, but not to Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. Postage within the EU is around £17. Worldwide postage is around £26. If these prices differ once I have packed and weighed them, I will refund the difference immediately.
If you have any questions, or require more photos, just let me know.
Many excellent Floyd titles still to be listed (over 100), so please keep an eye out for my future sales. Maybe add me as a favourite seller for my latest listings.
Good luck if you decide to bid.
