PIMK FLOYD Wish You were here SHVL 814 Harvest UK pressing with black shrink wrap + postcard / inner
MATRIX A1 and B5 ( Very close to FIRST PRESSING B3) 1975
Simply a classic album from one of the biggest bands ever -We are delighted to offer an early UK issue with the very elusive black shrink wrap -
most buyers of this album were so eager to hear the LP that the fragile wrap was soon opened and discarded.
Which is a shame as the black see through sleeve was part of sleeve designers Hipgnosis iconic cover idea -
While the inner sleeve photos represent the 4 elements water, earth fire and air - picked up in the lyrics to the title track.
The Black cover is a really neat visual trick to describe the album title along the lines of “ I know you are there but I can’t see you “
and at a another level - it picks up the second line of Shine on you crazy diamond “
Now there’s a look in your eyes -like black holes in the sky.
The shadow and spirit of Syd Barrett very much inspired this album
the famous burning handshake sleeve photo which was even referenced in the London Olympic opening ceremony is an image of being both burnt by the music industry and burnt Out .
This is a UK pressing with A1 and B5 Matrix which makes it pretty early and close to a B3 (First Pressing) -it comes with the
“Pinched ends sleeve spine” which was a design element to help get the shrink wrap on -
Later pressings are the more conventional square shape

CONDITION
Sleeve is EXCELLENT or JUST BELOW EXCELLENT -( Its always a bit tricky to grade an opened shrink wrap as part of the sleeve) - there is a small edge split in the shrink wrap ( See photos 2 and 3) and a tiny corner split in the top left corner (see photo 4) and has been opened at opening edge
The Circular Pink floyd title sticker shows slight signs of wear that I hope you can see in the photo - it has a slightly dirty appearance ,possibly caused by some sort of reaction to the shrink wrap
As this has been kept in a plastic protective sleeve - so it should not have been caused by outside storage conditions.
Postcard has a very light crease
Inner Sleeve is Excellent - with just very light signs of age wear
Labels are Excellent
Vinyl is Excellent
There are a couple of tiny very faint surface marks probably caused by the card inner sleeve - Audibly Excellent with just the faintest crackle in the very quietest sections AUDIBLY I heard 2 light pops for 1 Revolution on Shine on you crazy Diamond Part 6 and 2 further faint pops for 1 revolution at the fade out at the end of side 2 .
So there we are - a bit of rock history from one of the best loved and well regarded UK bands .
